Now you can't beat the ol' Atari. It's simply the best.

In July 2001, I bought a bunch of atari games off ebay. It took me 3 auctions to collect over 100 different games. List below are the 108 different games in my collection. Yeah, i've got a bunch of duplicates too, so those are going to friends and family.

I did some research on 3 month's worth of ebay auctions from Feb to April 2001. I looked at the auctions that had 50+ games. Typically, the games sold anywhere from $1.10/game to $2.00/game. So I adopted the strategy of not paying more than $1.50/game. It worked as I only payed about $1.00/game!

The chart below shows the quantity of games I own, and the rarity on a scale of 1-10 (10 being most rare, 1 being very common). This excellent rarity guide can be found at Atari Age. Also listed is my high scores for each game. As you can see, I have barely even begun to start playing all these games!

My Atari 7800.

I went with the 7800, because it can play both 2600 and 7800 games. I wasn't sure what type of games I was getting in these auctions, so I wanted to play it safe and get this system.

I played with a 2600 when I was a kid (I was 7 years old in 1982). And the 2600 system just looks better than the 7800. The 7800 just kinda looks cheap.

But at least I got 6 joysticks in this auction. In the bottom of the picture, you can see the 7800 controllers. They are excellent controllers except for when you are playing a game with alot of horizontal movement (like Missle Command). They are just too dang hard to hold on with all that horizontal movement.
