I like the idea of the nut and the screw as an analogy of tornado..This piece reminds me of another artist with the box frame...and I can't think of his name..but it'll come to me.

Are you thinking of Joseph Cornell?

Posted by: spudart on May 28, 04 | 5:55 pm

Yes!...and a little bit of Max Ernst with his Two Children Threatened by a Nightingale, with it's chunky frame...but Definately Joseph Cornell...Thanks..

perhaps you should list a date for your artwork.

Laura, it's listed right underneath the artwork.

oh. that looks like the date you posted the image, not like the date you made the art. just some constructive criticism here...

Feb 1, 1997? the spudart website was not around back then, so i could not post it.

This piece was created in the spring of 1997.

i'm just saying, "posted" is misleading. some people don't know how long yr site has been up.

Posted by: laura k. on May 31, 04 | 10:52 pm

I'll admit, it does read "Posted by: spudart on Feb 01, 97" which, while I know your site has been around that long, makes it look like you posted the entry about the painting on that date. The date the piece was created could be included in the description above the painting where you include the medium and the size. Just a friendly suggestion.

I don't have that many fields.

Twisted Turner

Twister: nut and screw. Twister: scene depicted as lanscape with tornado implied. These two concepts merge as the construction materials used implies the damage done by a twister. The watercolors call to mind the artist Turner. But this is a Twist on the Turner artist.
