actually that's not a porcupine. I showed the photo to my wife last night and she said it's a something or another. I can't remember the name she used.
here's a cute baby porcupine. He's got some crazy hair. I like him better cuz he's got more personality.

Ha! We're all so sad ... we don't even know our animals. That little guy is in fact a hedgehog ... I did a Google image search and found the same pic [along with dozens of others] proclaiming him to be a hedgehog

That's a baby hedgehog...not even related to the porcupine family. Common mistake though, I only found this out when I adopted a hedgehog of my own.

its a hedgehog definitely it doesnt look anything like a porcupine(well maybe alot because many people have gotten confused but it really isnt very cute ive seen way cuter than that but oh well you all go thinking its cute still

actually it might really be a porcupine ... that is kinda like what baby brazillian porcupines look like... they are the smallest porcupine and even full grown look a little bit like a hedgehog ... hoever this one does look more like a hedgehog than a brazillian porcupine... hard to tell when they are so little

Yes, this is definately a hedgehog. I had a pet hedgehog for 4 years, and there is no mistaking it: this is NOT a porcupine! She's a very cute African Pygmy Hedgehog (I believe).

Anywho, porcupines look different to hedhehogs. And that's a hedgehog. Porcupines are...different. Hedgehogs have their sticky-outy sort of nose, while porcupines are more rounded. Hedgehogs are completely covered, while most porcupines have breaks in their spikes.
I've seen similar pictures of people holding cute little prickly animals like this in their hands... they called them porcupines too but if it was a porcupine, your hand would be full of painful quills: porcupine quills detach very easily but hedgehog spines do not.

It's a hedgehog but porcupine isn't far off. They are actually much smaller than a porcupine (more the size of a guinea pig).
Good Picture though! I could never get my hedgies to say hi to me like that.

Whoever posted this should really correct the mistake! It's an African Pygmy Hedgehog, there is an enormous difference between Hedgie and Porcupine. I have a hedgie just like this one, and it seriously is getting annoying how badly educated people are about these animals. People should not see this picture when they look up porcupine. It's a hedgehog!

lol this is definately a porcupine on the left no doubt due to looks and color. Plus the one on the right is a porcupine because porcupines as babies don't really have much for quils at first and hedghogs like the one on the left has quils as a baby. I've owned a hedgehog along with tons of other animals since I'm in animal rescue... they're both cute
