I find it helpful sometimes to throw the ball at a player who already has a ball or even better two its much harder to catch the ball if you already have one in your hand or two. I also would suggest trying to catch a ball that is hard to catch and that your probably goonna drop only when you have many players and the other team has only one player because you could catch it and end it and even if you drop it you still have a good advantege.

yelling works when your whole team does it

Another good attack strategy comes into play when the number of players on your team either slightly outnumbers the other team or is equal. Say it's down to 3 on 3 and your team has 3 balls and the other team two. Position two of your players with one ball each in the middle of the court. Send the third out to the side as a flank. When the opponents work together to throw at the same time at your two teammates in the middle, throw from the side flank to get them out during the throwing motion, or at least to distract them.

Get 2 balls, lob one up in the air to be caught by the other team. They'll go for it trust me.Then as they try to catch it whip the other ball at them getting them out. this also works with two people each having a ball. one lobs the other gets the glory

I don't know about other leagues but ours has to have 2 girls playing and 4 guys. Well, we always aim for the girls (or weaker) players first to get them out. The strategy behind that is when the game gets close and there's 2on2, the weaker player goes in, instead of the best player to win the game. Always works!

The balls we play with flat out fly. They are impossible to catch and the best strategy is just to throw them right at someone's chest. Using balls to block throws also works really well

My league plays where at the start, each team has 3 balls, but they have to run to the middle to get them, and get back behind the 1/3 line of their court to throw.
I don't know if that's how most of the leagues play, but if you are in a league that does that, here is a good starting attack[also requires the standard 6-player limit]:
Usually a team will have 3 start on each side, so what your team should do is have everyone pick a partner and line up 5 people on the side where your balls are and 1 person on the side where the opponents' balls are. The faster of the 2 partners should go for the balls, and throw them back to their partners. The player on the opposite side will get an easy shot at the opponent to put them down one early.

Personally, I think screaming when you run at a opponent is highly effective. I would only do it if the person is aware of y ou though, because otherwise you could ambush them. However, when the person is aware of you it is a great idea. Numerous times I have ran at them screaming and just pegged them even though they had a ball ready to throw.

Everyone has their own type of advantage in the game. If you're small, you can dodge. If you're big, you've got power and can throw the ball fast. Find out what your strength is and play it.
I need more dodgeball tips. Me and my neighbor always play.

Here's a few.
Throw when they aren't looking. a) Watch for someone to look away, but don't be obvious. b) Throw at someone if they step behind a teammate. The teammate may dodge but the one behind might not.
Blocking a throw is easier then catching if it is a good player. Hold a ball for blocking if you can.
If you are a good thrower, throw at players that do not have a ball. Otherwise, they block and your throw is useless.
If you see a caught ball for the other team, immediately throw at the one coming in! You may surprise him, or he may dodge out of bounds.
I didn't read the obvious. Team up on throws. It is much harder to catch or even think when 2 balls are flying at you at the same time.
If you see a player jump high, tag 'em before they land. It is hard to dodge once you are airborne.

Not recommended: this past Saturday some idiot on the other team tried the following:
SUICIDE ATTACK: Thrower runs at the center line and jumps just before he crosses it and throws at the opponent before he lands.
Thrower is immediately out after landing, but in theory gets really close to the other team.
The idiot on the other team was not successful with this move when I saw it.

if ur playin the real dodgeballl rules where you have 6 balls to use and u can only go get the 3 on your right at the begining of the game... i sugjest sending 3 of the girls out to get the balls and have them assigned a good player on their team to toss it to after they get the ball. then the other team is still running away with the balls so your best players can nail em'. thats what my team does and were goin to the championship tomarrow!!!
Posted by: = ) on Apr 16, 09 | 8:30 pm
u could all line up in a striat line and throw the dodge balls at the same time

the last untried technique sounds promising. hey try having a teammate scream and another to throw the ball.
Posted by: danial on Oct 12, 10 | 5:32 am
try sneak up the line of the eliminated person then when they dont see you strike at them.

I play dodge ball just about every weekend since last year and one move that I came up with that a lot of people like is the Kamikaze. This move is best used when the game is down to one on one and your opponent has just thrown his last ball. Once his ball has been thrown you charge the line and jump into the air over the dividing line into enemy territory and throw while in the air before touching the ground. (if you touch the ground before the ball is released than your out do to a line in fracture and you look like a total idiot) But, if you happen to hit your opponent before you touch the ground the game is now over in your favor and you look like a total Bad Ass doing it.
I'm not sure if official NADA rules allows this but technically speaking as long as you get the ball out before you hit the ground its a legit kill shot.
If your new to this move I'd practice doing it with Two on one that way if you miss your other team mate still has a chance to win because this is a move that will ether make you a hero or next games bench warmer.
Also, (sorry its so long) you wanna make sure the opponent is not too far away because if you throw and than land first before the ball hits your target than your out because you crossed the line before eliminating the last opponent.
Okay, I think thats all. Have fun with it!

Another throw I enjoy that I've had great success with is kind of like the no looker only I start running from the left side of the room towards the right side (because i throw right handed) and than when I reach the right side of the room I side arm the ball towards the left side of the room with out looking. Works really well in the beginning of matches do to more people equaling bigger crowds but works well also to about three people.

If the ceiling isnt very high where your playing, then find out if a ball hitting the ceiling counts if someone catchs it. If it doesn't count, then bounce the ball of the ceiling then nail the person trying to catch the ball. =)

If you are trying to get someone in specific out, then wait till the come close the the half court line and then when the do go to the other side of the room and just after they throw the ball.........screw em'. (Dont go to far to the other side)

Today someone ran up to throw a ball. They lingered in the just-about-to-throw position and I took the chance and hit them in the stomach. It was really funny, they just stood there like 'WTF?!'

one startegie is the 300 wall u get 3 players that dont want to be in the game or 3 good catchers and u in the back the 3 ppl crouch in wall form and u get in the back and throw the ballz but start from back of the court

One thing to think of when performing suicide in dodgeball (I call it the Suicide Falcon) is that you should make sure that the game is down to the last player on the opposing team. I performed this move when it was 2 on 2 in a tournament, and I was the best player left off our team. I got the opposing player out when I performed the move, but then the other player on my team sucked, so she got out right after I did. We lost a good chance to be in the quarterfinals.
