after reading the article again, i have to question the validity. a 92 taurus? c'mon. And then he said, "I can't just go out and buy some fancy Honda because I notched my 20th big league save." Honda? fancy? c'mon. would joe really say that?

92 taurus? that's really a stretch. Maybe if it was a 2000 Taurus. Or a 92 volkswagen or subaru. But a 92 taurus? it's a bit extreme. extreme to the point where it needs to be extreme to validate the craziness of the article.

oh well, it's a funny read in the social behavior of unbelievably rich jock-heads.

yeah, baker can be witty, but he strings off a bunch of jokes in a row. That wouldn't happen in real life.

Thad Bosley trivia #2:

Thad is a nice guy.

Bosley gives hitters a pat on the back
Thursday, August 23, 2001

Few employees get enough positive feedback, something A's hitting coach Thad Bosley realized during his major-league career.

"I played for seven teams, and I never had one coach tell me he appreciated what I was doing," Bosley said.

So Bosley held a pregame meeting to let Oakland's hitters know he values their efforts.

"I wanted to acknowledge their achievements the past 39 games, reinforce how well they've done and encourage them to keep it up, because we've overcome a lot and they're special players," Bosley said. "Over the course of 162 games,

it's easy to look for something negative, but I wanted to point out what they've accomplished."

Third baseman Eric Chavez was gratified by Bosley's message. "Usually when there's a meeting, it's like going to the principal's office, but what this was about was to say, 'You're doing a great job,' -- and that's really nice to hear," Chavez said.
