Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen forced to share a star

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen both got the same star on the Hollywood walk of fame, the first twins ever to receive such an honor. Perhaps they should have each gotten their own star. As a twin, you want to be treated as an individual. But then again, I guess that's how they market themselves. And it makes their star more unique.

Join my 2004 "Beat the Streak" league

I just created a "Beat the Streak" league on Major League Baseball's website. It's really easy to do.

How to Play:
1) Your mission is to break Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak.
2) Pick one player every day. Get a hit, your streak continues. Get no hits, your streak ends and you begin a new one.
3) You can pick any player on any day. The deadline to make your pick is 5 minutes before each day's first game.
4) Put together the longest hitting streak of the season and win four tickets to the 2005 World Series.
5) Be the first to break Joe D's 56-game record and win $10,000 in cash.

Visual Plug-ins for iTunes?

Are there any websites that have a bunch of visual plug-ins for iTunes? I could only find two websites that have a couple visualizers.
http://www.arkaos.net/site/en/index.html
http://www.trinfinitysoftware.com/

When Soundjam was around, there were hundreds of visualizer plug-ins. There's gotta be a website that has a crapload of links for iTunes visual plug-ins.

Mini Chips Ahoy looks like Cookie Crisp

Immediately upon opening up the package of Mini Chips Ahoy they reminded me of Cookie Crisp cereal. It's like they are just packaging the Cookie Crisp cereal in fun small cup-sized containers.

New Darth Vader Costume in Episode III

Fans can get a first look at the new Darth Vader costume from the 2005 "Star Wars: Episode III" prequel on the upcoming DVD collection of the original trilogy, Lucasfilm announced Monday. The first three "Star Wars" films will debut for the first time in digital format on Sept. 21 with this DVD collection.

But I'm the only one on the internet who has a special sneak peek preview photo right here: Hayden Christensen in the New Darth Vader Costume!!!

Formula to figure cost of electricity to run a server

To run something for all day long for every day of the month, multiply the watts by 0.0612.
A 230-watt computer to run as a server non-stop would cost $14.08 a month
(230 watts x 0.0612 = $14.08).

Here's the original formula found at: consumersenergy.com (pdf file)
1. Find the wattage rating on the back or bottom of your appliance. If the wattage rating is not given, multiply the amps times the volts to find the watts. (amps x volts = watts).
Example: A microwave rated for 6 amps and 120 volts uses 720 watts of electricity an hour. 6 amps x 120 volts = 720 watts

2. Divide the appliance wattage by 1,000 to convert watts to kilowatts.
720 watts divided by 1,000 = .72 kilowatts

3. Multiply the kilowatts by 8.5 cents (typical cost per kilowatt-hour for electricity).
.72 kilowatts x .085 = .06 (rounded off)
The cost to use a 720-watt microwave oven for one hour is 6 cents.

Cubs broadcast from Tribune Tower

The Tribune Company (owners of the Chicago Cubs, and my employer) has installed a super huge HDTV in the lobby of the Tribune Tower. When the Cubs are playing on WGN during the day, they broadcast the game in the lobby. There's something neat about watching the Chicago Cubs in the lobby of the historic building which houses the owners of the Cubs. Plus it's really freakin high resolution!

National Egg Salad Week

This week is National Egg Salad Week, but then May is National Egg Month. Wouldn't it make eggcellent sense if National Egg Salad Week was in the same month as the National Egg Month?

baseball announcers bets

Chicago Cubs radio announcers Ron Santo and Pat Hughes have the attendance guessing game. White Sox tv announcers Ken Harrelson and Darren Jackson have the pick to click bet.

The Chicago Cubs tv broadcasters Steve Stone and Chip Caray should have some betting game during their telecast. I'd love to see Steve whomp on Chip every day.

What's wrong with parking garages?

Why don't we have more parking garages in the city? Is there something that people don't like about them? There is an obvious parking problem in the city, why not build more parking garages?

Chicago Cubs homeplate seats

At Wrigley Field the Chicago Cubs are bringing the brick wall behind homeplate closer to the field, creating 213 extra "Dugout Box Seats". The cost of the seats are:
* $50: value added games.
* $100: regular games
* $250: prime games

Almost half of the cubs home games are designated prime. For the entire season they are making $2,971,350.00 based on the face value of the tickets. All of them have sold out.

I won the "chance" to buy some tickets. Was told to go online at a secret address at 9am today, but was locked forever in the virtual waiting room for half an hour. Then I tried another browser, and it said all the tickets have sold out.

Oh well, I don't get to contribute to the three million dollar fund for the Cubs this year.

There is no such thing as the font Univers Condensed Black, yet there is a Univers Extended Black. Oh, the poor condensed, so skinny yet not deserving of the super fat weight.
