Where is
Latitude 33ƒ 33Min 33Sec,
Longitude 33ƒ 33Min 33Sec?
It's right off the coast of Israel.

Then you can add minus signs in the numbers.

Look under cap: Unwrap the experience: You lose: Now drink our product, you loser

Coca-Cola has a promotion where you could win a PSP handheld video game system, or the new PS2, or a PlayStation2 game. So being a sucker for soda giveaways, I bought a bottle (plus feeling a little sick, coke makes me feel better).

And I did not win. Under the cap it said:

DRINK
COKE

PLAY
AGAIN

Which was a little disappointing. And that's the point of this post. It's funny how most people don't win and then have to drink their soda all disappointed. Your very first sip from the bottle will be one tainted with the twist of disillusionment. And people will always take a sip of soda RIGHT after finding out that they lost. You just took the cap off, of course you'll take a sip. So every coke contest loser will mix the taste of coke with feelings loserville.

Would soda companies really want to people to associate the taste of their product with defeat? There is that very sharp subconscious undertone every time you lose and then drink their product.

site referral links notification via email

I'm looking for some software or service that would notify me via email (or RSS feed) whenever there is a new site linking to my site. And that's just it, i only want new sites. I don't want to be notified about the same old sites that have been linking to me.

so once i have been notified about a site that links to me, it won't give me the same notification again.

Does anyone know of such software, service, or website?

Using full moon calendar instead of a Julian and Gregorian 12-month calendar

We are so accustomed to our 12-month calendar, January, February, March, etc. What if we were to use a calendar based on the full moon? Seeing that there is a full moon tonight, this would be the start of the first month in the new year. Right now we would be in the month of Full Wolf Moon.

So instead of saying, "oh wow, can you believe it's March already?", we would say, "oh wow, can you believe it's Full Worm already?"

Today's date would be Wolf 1, 2005
Christmas would be Cold 10, 2005

searching for a new host server for spudart.org

I've had plenty of problems with my current hosting company olm.net and am considering changing hosts. I need a plan with:

Size:
ï 600mb storage or more
ï 15 gigs traffic or more

MySQL stuff:
ï MySQL version 3.23.32 or newer.
ï PHPmyAdmin
ï MySQL grant privileges (for tables): CREATE, ALTER, DROP
ï I need only one database, but multiply tables in that database.

PHP stuff:
ï PHP version 4.1 or newer.
ï PHP must have XML support.
ï One of the three image manipulation protocols: GD, ImageMagick, NetPBM
ï "Output_buffering" must be turned off in php.ini.

Email:
ï Works with SMTP servers of earthlink. If they have their own SMTP server, I don't want a limit on the number of emails that I can send out in one day. (Godaddy.com only allows 250 emails to be sent per day. Not that i would ever reach that limit, but with the email notification on comments on my blog, it might get that high)
ï Unlimited aliasing with email (i don't care about having multiple email accounts, i just want aliasing)
ï Web-based email

Etc:
ï 24/7 phone support
ï Under $15.00 a month
ï Access to raw logs
ï Unique IP address
ï FTP access
ï CGI support

Interested in, but not essential:
ï Email autoresponders
ï Password protected directories
ï Sub-domains

quiet closet poem

The empty coat closet at work,
no jackets inside do lurk.
All is quiet and still,
Nothing moving notta nill.
I hang my coat off to the side,
setting over any jacket pride.
Don't want it to get in the way,
gotta give jackets room to play.
I slide all the other hangers back,
they cling, they clang, they clack.
Awakening and makening sounds of chimes,
getting up from their snoozy bedtime.
Joyfully they sang and clang,
waiting for jackets on them to hang.

Cubs interested in Jeremy Burnitz

According to the Houston Chronicle, the Astros, Devil Rays, Pirates, Diamondbacks and Cubs are interested in free agent OF Jeromy Burnitz.

Great, the Cubs could really use another player to strikeout 120-150 times a season.

xbox console wanted

I'm looking to buy an xbox console, but they are sold out everywhere. How bizarre. I thought ps2 was more popular than xbox. One would think that xbox would have a ready supply for anyone willing to get their less popular system.

I have looked at: buy.com, amazon.com, circuitcity.com, bestbuy.com, toysrus.com, target.com, walmart.com, kmart.com, dell.com, compusa.com, ecost.com, pcmall.com, and macmall.com. All of them don't have it in stock now.

If you know of a reputable place where I can buy a new one for $150-$170 that has them in stock, please let me know.

Magdalena Abakanowicz to permanently install 100 nine-foot tall rusted sculpture-people in Chicago's Grant Park.

Public art is great to have around. It sparks dialogue and thought. But according to the artist's website this installation constitutes "a lasting anxiety." Hmmm. do we want a piece that causes anxiety in our parks?

It's one thing if a public work creates a deep thoughtful reflection, like the Vietnam Memorial. But to just rekindle her feeling of being overwhelmed by a crowd people, what does that say? Don't be in a crowd of people?

Of course, as with any work of art, the viewer can derive their own meaning. And this piece looks like it's vague enough, yet specific enough to do just that. People will love running around these giant figures. The Sun-Times captures that feeling with their headline, "Exhibit may make you feel like a kid again." Or perhaps people will look at the individuality of the sculptures. Despite their similiarities, there are differences that make us all unique. A nice message. Maybe I need to just get over that statement of "lasting anxiety."

names for hours like midnight and noon

Are there names for hours other than 12am and 12pm? For instance does 1pm have a name? Certainly 6pm should have a name. It's the point where the day is 3/4 done.

The Lojban language has something that kinda does that.
la pacac. 1 A.M., or the hour called the 'first hour'
la recac. 2 A.M., or the hour called the 'second hour'
la cicac. 3 A.M., or the hour called the 'third hour'
la vocac. 4 A.M., or the hour called the 'fourth hour'
la mucac. 5 A.M., or the hour called the 'fifth hour'
la xacac. 6 A.M., or the hour called the 'sixth hour'
la zecac. 7 A.M., or the hour called the 'seventh hour'
la bicac. 8 A.M., or the hour called the 'eighth hour'
la socac. 9 A.M., or the hour called the 'ninth hour'
la panocac. 10 A.M., or the hour called the 'tenth hour'
la papacac. 11 A.M., or the hour called the 'eleventh hour'
la midycac. 12 noon, or the hour called the 'twelfth hour', or the hour called the middle hour
la pacicac. 1 P.M., or the hour called the 'thirteenth hour'
la pavocac. 2 P.M., or the hour called the 'fourteenth hour'
la pamucac. 3 P.M., or the hour called the 'fifteenth hour'
la paxacac. 4 P.M., or the hour called the 'sixteenth hour'
la pazecac. 5 P.M., or the hour called the 'seventeenth hour'
la pabicac. 6 P.M., or the hour called the 'eighteenth hour'
la pasocac. 7 P.M., or the hour called the 'nineteenth hour'
la renocac. 8 P.M., or the hour called the 'twentieth hour'
la repacac. 9 P.M., or the hour called the 'twenty-first hour'
la rerecac. 10 P.M., or the hour called the 'twenty-second hour'
la recicac. 11 P.M., or the hour called the 'twenty-third hour'
la nocac. 12 midnight, or the hour called the 'twenty-fourth hour', or the hour called the 'zeroth hour'

This is based on their number system:
pa 1
re 2
ci 3
vo 4
mu 5
xa 6
ze 7
bi 8
so 9
no 0

The artificial language Lojban was created by the Logical Language Group in 1987, with the intent to make the language more complete, usable, and freely available.

Lojban numbers are read off as strings of numerals, each representing
a digit of the number as it is written. You can thus practice the
numerals by reading the two numbers: "12345" and "67890":

12345
English: "One hundred twenty-three thousand forty-five"
Lojban: "parecivomu" (pah,reh,shee,voh,moo)

67890
English: "Six hundred seventy-eight thousand ninety"
Lobjan: "xazebisono" (khah,zeh,bee,soh,noh)

But back to the question, are there names for a particular hour in the day?

The Snow Marathon: listening to Snow's "Informer" song non-stop

A friend at work and I were talking about Vanilla Ice and Snow's name came up. Y'know the guy who did that reggae song, "Informer" in the mid 90s. Lo and behold iTunes actually sells it from the 12 inches of snow album. I quickly bought it faster than snow melting.

And now I'm seeing how many times i can listen to the song in a row. It's 11:46am right now and i'm on #11 in a row. Maybe I could go all day long. The song is four minutes 28 seconds long, so by 5:00pm today that will be about 80 consecutive plays. Hopefully by that time, i'll actually understand the lyrics!

UPDATE: I listened to Snow's "Informer" 57 times in a row.

New York Mets Stink

Word is that the Mets are gonna pay Carlos Beltran $25 million a year to join their team. How fitting that he would join the Mets. Every player on the Mets have sucked. Yeah, Beltran rocked last season, but he's so overrated right now. Here's the cast of "all-stars" he could be joining in Mets history:

C Mike Piazza, Gary Carter
1B Keith Hernandez
2B Edgardo Alfonzo
3B Howard Johnson
SS Bud Harrelson (.234 average, 6 HR, 12 seasons with Mets)
OF Lee Mazzilli, Bobby Bonilla
OF Darryl Strawberry, Rusty Staub
OF Mookie Wilson, Dave Kingman

P Tug McGraw
P Tom Seaver
P Dwight Gooden
P Jerry Koosman
P Sid Fernandez, Jesse Orosco

Oh yeah, what a heritage. You know you got problems when you have to list Mookie Wilson as an all-star outfielder. And lookit that shortstop. At least the Mets have rocked in the catcher department with two of the arguably best catchers ever; and Tom Seaver was great. But everything. bleh.

Is this a complete list of Met all-time all-stars?
