We need more mens' colors for reusable bags

Reusable bags are great. No wasted plastic. Reusable bags last. They have a little bit of style. BUT. As a man, I have a hard time finding reusable bags with a color that is not girly. There's lots of reds, blues, oranges, yellows, purples, magentas, violets. C'mon.

You might ask, what about black? Black looks like a garbage bag. Hello. I don't want to walk around public with a garbage bag.

I like a simple green (environmental color!) or a medium gray. chicobag offers a nice moss green--although it's a little bit satiny. But I own about six and I use them ALL the time.

And now resuable bags offers their ACME bag in charcoal gray. I'm gonna give that a shot.

How much cholesterol is in the KFC Double Down Sandwich?

KFC has a new sandwich where instead of bread for the buns, it has chicken patties:
  • A fried chicken patty
  • 2 slices of cheese
  • 2 slices of bacon
  • and another fried chicken patty.
Curious about the nutrition is for this monster, I went onto the KFC website. But as of August 25, 2009; the nutrition info for the Doubledown Sandwich not listed on their website. The most recent update to their nutrition guide is labeled from April 2009: "kfc_nutrition_april09.pdf." Shouldn't it be illegal for a restaurant with over X-number locations to not list the nutrition of all their food? How can KFC can put out a sandwich without making available the facts that will inform people how dangerous it can be?

The Huffington Post reports:
The Vancouver Sun has done an independent calorie analysis for the "Double Down" and has concluded the "sandwich" likely has 1228 calories.

But if our figures hold true, and KFC won't confirm they don't, the Double Down is more caloriffic than the Wendy's Triple with Everything and Cheese (1700 mg sodium, 960 calories, 26 gms of fat), the Burger King Stacker Quad (1770 sodium, 1020 calories, 69 gms of fat), and compares closely to the fat, salt and calorie totals of three McDonalds Big Macs put together (3060 sodium, 1620 calories, 87 gms fat).
Thank goodness for newspapers getting the facts. What will we do without our newspapers? SRSLY. THREE BIG MACS? Wow. I wonder how much cholesterol it has. I sent KFC an email.

The many plazas of Millennium Park in Chicago

Meet at the Plaza in Millennium Park. Where is "the plaza?" Millennium Park is home to the following plaza with the following names:
• AT&T Plaza
• Ameritech Plaza
• SBC Plaza
• McCormick Tribune Plaza
• Plaza at Park Grill
• Park Grill Plaza
and Daley Bicentennial Plaza across the street.

Which of these is "The Plaza?"
Answer: It's "The Plaza at Park Grill."
Yup.

Here's a diagram explaining all the plazas in Millennium Park.

Next time I go to Millennium Park, I'm gonna bring some chalk with me and create Maldre Plaza. Location to be determined. Perhaps I'll blog about it. Stay tuned.

Grapes and grape tomatoes do not go together

Do grapes and grape tomatoes go well together?...

Grapes. Grape tomatoes. They should go together, right? Both are cute sizes. Both are great to pop in your mouth. One is sweet, the other acidic. Both are pretty colors.

I just ate some grapes and followed it with a few grape tomatoes. Now my stomach is mad. WARNING: Do NOT eat grapes with grape tomatoes.

Two Powermac G3 Towers combined into a supercomputer

My brother owns a blue and white PowerMac G3. I own the same computer. This model is basically useless now. Mine sits in my closet. Erik's sits in his basement (which is basically a big closet).

It would be great if we could combine these two computers together to form a supercomputer. Kinda like how the Constructicons merge together to form Devastator. In all reality, it would really end up more like Bruticus Maximus.

August book selections from Museum of Contemporary Art

Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art has a fantastic selection in their book store. Going to their bookstore is just as fun as seeing their galleries. Here's six books that stood out on my recent visit.

For those who can't view the above Amazon widget, here's the list of books:

Faceback, Facebank, Facebark... oh wait FaceBOOK

Here's a funny domain swiping technique. I was wondering if faceback.com was taken (a play on facebook). But it is. What about other domains where you take the second word and keep the first and last letter?

Available:
facebask.com
facebaulk.com

The ones that are taken, sadly nobody is doing anything interesting with them:
facebeck.com: Redirects to domain name reservation site.
faceberk.com: Redirects to facebook.com
faceback.com: Nothing
facebalk.com: Nothing
faceball.com: Nothing
facebank.com: Really nothing. Blank screen.
facebark.com: Nothing
facebask.com: Nothing

Who's gonna take facebask.com and do something with it?

An INTJ changes into an INFP... maybe

UPDATE: Several people have found the Facebook version of the Myers-Briggs test to be inaccurate. Please read the following with a grain of salt. If you want to take a REAL Myers-Briggs test, head over to www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp. I've taken many Myers-Briggs tests, and I found this one to be the most accurate.
===================================

Me a INFP? No way. The Myers-Briggs Personality Test on Facebook is trying to claim I'm an INFP. (I took another test this week that also said I'm an INFP). The past four years I've taken many of these Myer-Briggs personality tests and have always come up with INTJ. Here's the details of INTJ:

INTJ Strengths
* Not threatened by conflict or criticism
* Usually self-confident
* Take their relationships and commitments seriously
* Generally extremely intelligent and capable
* Able to leave a relationship which should be ended, although they may dwell on it in their minds for awhile afterwards
* Interested in "optimizing" their relationships
* Good listeners

INTJ Weaknesses
* Not naturally in tune with others feelings; may be insensitive at times
* May tend to respond to conflict with logic and reason, rather than the desired emotional support
* Not naturally good at expressing feelings and affections
* Tendency to believe that they're always right
* Tendency to be unwilling or unable to accept blame
* Their constant quest to improve everything may be taxing on relationships
* Tend to hold back part of themselves

And now Facebook is telling me I'm an INFP. The bullet points on INFP from personalitypage.com:

INFP Strengths
* Warmly concerned and caring towards others
* Sensitive and perceptive about what others are feeling
* Loyal and committed - they want lifelong relationships
* Deep capacity for love and caring
* Driven to meet other's needs
* Strive for "win-win" situations
* Nurturing, supportive and encouraging
* Likely to recognize and appreciate other's need for space
* Able to express themselves well
* Flexible and diverse

INFP Weaknesses
* May tend to be shy and reserved
* Don't like to have their "space" invaded
* Extreme dislike of conflict
* Extreme dislike of criticism
* Strong need to receive praise and positive affirmation
* May react very emotionally to stressful situations
* Have difficulty leaving a bad relationship
* Have difficulty scolding or punishing others
* Tend to be reserved about expressing their feelings
* Perfectionistic tendancies may cause them to not give themselves enough credit
* Tendency to blame themselves for problems, and hold everything on their own shoulders

Interesting that twice this week tests have claimed I'm an INFP. Well, if it's true, I guess that's good, cuz it shows that I'm growing as a person. Not that INFP is better, but it's good have some indications of change within yourself. INTJ tends to be a rather cold personality type, whereas INFP is more friendly. I still see myself as an INTJ, but I've always thought I was a more positive and friendly INTJ.

If you take the Myers-Briggs Personality Test on Facebook, please let me know what results you get.

Full moon? Nope. The full sun is makes me crazy.

The full moon makes people crazy? But what about when the moon isn't out yet? The sun is out now. That's what makes people crazy during the day. The full sun. Wait. The sun is full all the time? Oh crap. We're screwed.

Where the word "THOUSANDS" originated

Without looking at the dictionary, I think the origin of the word "thousands" is when someone said, "Thou give me as many cookies as there are grains of sand." Eventually it got shortened down to thousands.

Willis Tower: The new Slip-n-Slide Central

I'd really like a four-mile long Slip-n-Slide to work. However Chicago has no hills to create Slip-n-Slides, so let's leverage the height of the great Chicago skyscrapers. All Slip-n-Slides can start from the Sears Tower (oops I mean, Willis Tower). The Slip-n-Slides will fan out to all different sections of the city. The farthest distances would start from the very top floor of the tower. And shorter distances would start from floors beneath. That would make Willis Tower the central hub of Slip-n-Slide mass transit in Chicago.

I am excited that this Monday has uttered such sheer brilliance.
