day before your birthday

In addition to celebrating our birthday, we should also celebrate the day before our birthday, because that is the last day that we are at that age.
~thought generated by conversation with David Rothkopf of Down the Line. Tomorrow is Dave's 30th birthday, therefore today is his last day of being 29.

It seems that it would be more of a mourning than a celebration... you never get to be that age again, and it's kind of a sad thing! The only time it would really be a celebration would be when you're pretty young, and want to get older. Then, as we get older, we want to stay young, so it becomes a mourning time, the last day before our birthday... get my thinking?

oh, by the way, Happy Birthday, Dave, even though I don't know you! You're over the hill!! :p

actually, the day of your nth birthday is the final day of your nth year. so the day you turn 30 is the final day of your 30th year of life. you actually entered your 30th year the day after you turned 29. and that year is completed on your 30th birthday.

A good tip to do in the run up to your birthday is to do as many things you can fit in as this will distract you from thinking about your birthday, and as we all know, thinking about your birthday makes it seem like every second is an hour. (never watch tv the day before your b'day as it makes time last 4 eva!)
Its my birthday tomorrow so everything is going at snails pace

Tomorrow is my birthday and a good idea to make the time go by for me each year since I was 9 was making a collage/ scrapbook of all my favorite things from when I was that age. Depending on how much you put in it, it could make the day feel like 24 min. instead of 24 hours. :D

My way to pass the time is to go to bed REALLY early the night before because then yourr birthday 'comes sooner' (or feels like it does!) That way you also wake up earlier and are less tired so enjoy the day more! I'm turning fourteen tomorrow and my birthday is still me favourite day of the year :P
