actually, in that list i'd probably merge Washington's Birthday, President's Day, Lincoln's Birthday into one holiday to preserve statistical integrity, cuz people would get confused which one they get off.

President's Day is supposed to be a merge of Washington's and Lincoln's birthdays. so that people would only get one day off, instead of two.
looks like Tom has to work on Christmas Day!
at school our calendar is different from you work-y people. i know we don't get minor holidays like Columbus Day or Veteran's Day or President's Day off. but we DO get MLK Jr Day off. and of course the major holidays. but in the case of Christmas, i get two weeks off. that encompasses New Year's Eve/Day. then a three-week semester break at the end of January. then one week off before Easter.

we used to get our own personal holiday, our birthday. they changed it b.c if someones birthday was in the middle of the week, they would want to move it to a friday or a monday and then it just got messy... you can't change your birthday.
