Split the cost of a Custom Chicago Cubs Brick at Wrigley Field

My brother Erik posted on his blog that the Chicago Cubs are offering fans the opportunity to get their very own 4" x 8" personalized brick to be placed somewhere around Wrigley Field. Erik wants to get a brick that says:

RUB THIS BRICK
AND THE CUBS
WILL WIN TODAY

But it costs $160 to get a brick. Now if anyone wants to split the cost of the brick, please leave your name in the comments below. So far Erik and I are in on it. Please join us and get the chance to leave your mark on the coolest brick at Wrigley Field. I'll tell ya what, you can even donate as much as you want. One dollar. Five dollars. Anything will be appreciated.

They're not sharing where the money is going to go! Nearly a scam I say!

Believe what you want, Abhay. I'm strongly considering just forking over the $160 and getting the brick. But it would be nice to have others participate in the fun. If you want to give me or spud $1, then cool. Then you can say you're part of this historic brick. If not, then I'll get the brick on my own and you'll miss out. It's your loss. People will catch wind of this lucky brick and it'll become a landmark of Wrigley Field. Those in the know will visit this brick each time they go to a cubs game. And who knows; maybe this brick will actually bring good luck to the Cubs!

I don't understand how you can say "they're not sharing where the money is going to". It's either you're part of this investment or your not. I'm not going to take your money and never get the brick. That's terrible. And it'll hex the Cubs even further.

As a side note, each person that places an order for a wrigley brick will receive a replica. I just want to make it clear that the replica lfor this particular brick will become my property (unless spud decides to go halfsies with me then the two of us can co-own the replica). The Cubs are offering extra duplicate bricks for an additional $83 (including convenience fees, shipping not included... whatever shipping costs are). So you can put some money in our brick fund and pay an extra $83 to get your own replica.

I'd like to contribute. How can I be sure you will buy the brick?

Let me know about this, I like the idea.

I am confident that the replica brick will have a very nice home at the unlikelymoose household.

Bruce, you can be assured that we will buy the brick. There is no doubt about that. In fact, once the brick is purchased and we get the receipt, my brother Erik will post it to the blog on his website. Erik will set up a paypal link tonight.

i just bought the brick. I will post the receipt on my site along with a paypal link if anyone wishes to invest in the "Lucky Cubs Brick". Even a few bucks would help the cause.

I didn't order any duplicate bricks for $83. So I will only be accepting donations to help pay for the $160 fee.

The link is up! Anyone can make a donation through my site. I use Paypal for all my financial transactions. You don't need a paypal account to donate. Credit Cards work. I never see your financial information. And Paypal is a worldwide leader in web-based transactions. Or if you have a Paypal account, it can deduct your donation from your Paypal account.

Tell your friends! Tell your family! Tell anyone on the street wearing a Cubs hat! Anyone got Ron Santo's number? I bet he'd donate to the cause.

What is the web site to purchase a brick at Wrigley Field?

Posted by: ron on Mar 28, 06 | 8:54 am

I did a search on google for: brick site:mlb.com. And this page comes up: Cubs Brick Paver Program Order Form.

A replica of Wrigley Field is going to be built in Freeport, Il., 90 miles west of chicago, with groundbreaking in less than 1 month. Pavers for the front area of the replica(wiffleball size, real brick, ivy from wrigley, etc) are only $50, and can be purchased thru the website-www.littlecubsfield.com A replica of your brick should be part of the design. I am in charge of the project. Let me know what you think after you check the website-- the field will be used for little league(7-8 yr olds), wiffleball, kickball, rentals for groups, fundraisers, etc.

Guess what?! The replica brick doesn't have the engraving on it! I had a family name put on it and purchased additional replica bricks for our family members. All you get for the replica brick is a red brick with a little round sticker that makes it "authentic". The paving bricks are great, but don't waste your money on the replicas thinking they will have the engraving too.

Jill, I'm not sure what replica brick you are referencing. Perhaps you are referencing the "little cubs field" replica brick. I received my replica brick from Wrigley Field and it's a fine brick. It has my inscription engraved. ("RUB THIS BRICK AND THE CUBS WILL WIN TODAY") I will have to post a photo some day to share with the world.

What ever happened with the lucky "RUB THIS BRICK" project? They were supposed to be installed prior to opening day 2008 right?

Posted by: CHC_fan on Jul 07, 08 | 12:22 pm

CHC_Fan, the brick is in the sammy sosa section, right by the Harry Caray statue. Here's a photo of me rubbing the brick: http://www.flickr.com/photos/34881492@N00/1433343732/

awesome, I'm going to find it on Wednesday night before the cubs/reds game.

Posted by: CHC_fan on Jul 07, 08 | 12:44 pm

Our brick is now on the floor of a bar! Don't waste your hard earned money.
