So is it fair to say that if you had a chalk that bonded to cement better, it wouldnt "disolve?"

David, yeah, i think a stronger bond would mean it would not "dissolve." I wonder if they sell permanent sidewalk chalk. A quick search on
google didn't result in anything.

I can confirm that chalk left outside in the rain does not dissolve. It gets a bit porous, swiss-cheesy, but it does not fall apart.

hi,ive been asked by a child in school is it right that there is a place in america where all the streets are named after dinasaurs, could some one tell me if that is true and if its true where is it :) thanks for reading this message. Lynne

Actually, your student may be thinking of Dinosaur Colorado. Many of the streets in Dinosaur are named after dinosaurs, but I don't know if all of them are. Dinosaur is a pretty small town so it could be possible!
In Dinosaur you can speed down Stegosaurus Freeway, travel down Triceratops Terrace, drive along Diplodocus Drive, break on the Brachiosaurus Bypass, and peel out on Brontosaurus Boulevard!
