can someone please explain to me the magic that is haiku? I have known a few cool people in my time who though haikus were the best. I need to be enlightened.
A haiku is just three lines. The first line has five syllables. The second line has seven syllables. The third line has five syllables. That's it.
At first I hated the haiku, cuz i thought there was some secret magic to it. But now in order to appreciate it, I just put it into another perspective in my mind. I frame it in the sense of that it's just a simple structure for any open idea. Kinda like an exercise in creativity. Start with one limit, and work within that limit.

I'm suprised by this. When I was at TMS I was part of a daily haiku exchange (I've embraced the haiku for most of my life) You must have really hated the poor haiku since you weren't a part of that and this is your first. Welcome to the land of haikus ... finally! ;O)
I was going to reply with a haiku, but my brain isn't working proper today.

There was a daily haiku exchange at TMS? Whatthe!? How did I miss this?
For a second, I thought your last sentence was a haiku, and you were just being a wisenheimer.

Before I’ve only heard the word haiku, now I know it already. Another collection of thoughts that I’ve learned today. Thank you.

That is a cute haiku, not so much poetic but very clever. Haha. I would have never thought of that!
