I took 2 semesters of german in high school. I understand a bit of spoken german better than I do written, but there's almost nothing left anymore.
I can speak a little.

Oh sehr gut, Herr Sparx!
I took 2 years in high school. Or was it two semesters? And then I took 2 semesters in college. But really, the first semester in college was the 100-level starter class.
As you know, sparx, I just like to tool around in IM and speak some broken German now and then. What's is german for "hooray!"? Freetranslation.com says it's "Hurra!"

I took two quarters at college, too. It didn't go well -- I took just enough to mess up my French. My friend who took those classes with me, though, was a natural, and speaks it so well, Germans think she's German!

I lived there for almost two years but had to finish up Spanish before I could take a German class. I ended up taking one year but most of it is gone from the old memory bank.

Yo,
I grew up there. My folks were working for the U.S. Forces. Moved back Down under about 4 years ago. Germans know how to do 3 things. Good beer, nice cars and lose wars.
Have a safe one.

I can speak a little bit of German. I learned it at the University.
But you must keep on practising ... I forgot 50 % of it...

Ich bin krank.
Es regnet.
(Neither true, but all I can remember from a perfectly good semester of college German!)

I forgot most of my German (like, 95% of it). But freetranslation.com is so handy! I like to speak german occasionally in instant messenger. It would be great if freetranslation.com was able to work in IM.

Mein Deutsch is sehr schlect. couple semesters in high school and a couple semesters in college. I can't count the college German too much because it was 8:00 a.m. Any college class at 8 a.m. is a very bad idea.
I took 4 years in high school, and then I got an internship over in Hamburg, where I lived for a year.
So, I can speak it fluently.
I'm just starting my freshman year in college this monday :O

I am german,... so I can :-)
not a regular reader. this is my first time. However I speak a bit of german.
Lived in Deutchland for 3 months and have visited two other times.
My favorite german phrase is:
Dampfschiff fahrt
It means the "going of a steamboat" - this is what my German friend said. But...
It sounds so funny when you are an original english speaker.
