My picks for the Pilcrow Lit Fest in Chicago

Pilcrow Lit Fest has a lot going on this Saturday May 23.
Matilda’s: 3101 N. Sheffield and Trader Todd’s: 3216 N. Sheffield, Chicago

There’s a ton of free panels and workshops.
http://pilcrowlitfest.com/panels.html

For every time slot there are three different workshops. Here’s the ones I’ll be attending on Saturday:
10am: How to promote your work
11am: Social Media
12pm: Publisher’s Role in Community
1pm: Design Panel or 1pm: Teaching Artists Panel (I can’t decide yet on this time slot)
2pm: Life, Technology, Society
3pm: What makes good reading great
4pm: State of the small press
5pm: Event coverage, niche blogging, and technical writing

These are just my picks, check out the full list (with descriptions) at: http://pilcrowlitfest.com/panels.html

Why in the hell would a "lit fest" have events at Trader Todd's and Matilda's and not at Sheffield's

thanks for posting this spud!! even though i'm not a blogger, designer, or official author beyond the work, school related stuff - some of these panels/workshops look very interesting!!! especially the 3pm one you listed.

I really don't know why, but "State of the small press" sounds interesting to me. I don't use small presses for anything. Maybe it's the small business aspect of it that appeals to me.

As for the 1pm time spot, the safest bet would be the "Teaching Artists Panel" because you have a better idea of what you're getting. "Design Panel" sounds so vague. It could be just about anything. "Design" covers so much ground. And what will they be talking about? It could be really great or really lame. It depends on how much gamble you want to factor into your decision. Being a former seminar junkie I'd go with the Teaching Artist Panel unless you can get more specifics about the elusive "Design Panel".

I'm glad to see you making more comments, Kris. Keep 'em coming.

Dear commenter named "Chicago," you seem to be quite enraged that Sheffield's is not a host. I honestly don't know the difference between Trader Todd's, Matilda's and Sheffield's. Is there something about Sheffields that would make it a fit?

(btw i'm just a regular person going to this festival. I don't have anything to do with the organizing of this event. If you want to ask questions directly to the organizers, you an email Amy Guth. Her email is the festival site at: http://pilcrowlitfest.com/ But I'm still curious about how Sheffield's is good (since I know nothing about any of the three locations)
