For sale: A penny from every currency around the world

I'd love to have a penny from every currency on planet Earth. I'd pay $10 for that. Someone should sell a collection that has every possible type of current penny. That would just be so cool.

If someone sells the world penny collection, they could have people subscribe and get the collection every year. That would be fun. I'd totally fork over ten bucks every year to get the worldwide penny collection.

It would be a great way to introduce a person like me into collecting coins. Personally, I wouldn’t really care if they are uncirculated, in fact, I’d rather have them be circulated, so it would make it cheaper for me to buy the collection.

Wow. According to wikipedia, there are currently 267 circulating currencies.

whoa. I thought it would be maybe like fifty. So maybe $10 wouldn't cover all the logistics behind a collection like this. But still, 267 currencies... that's around $2.67 in actual value. Someone could make a MINT off this idea.

this is kinda like my wish to have one baseball card from every set of baseball cards. Though that collection would be much more difficult and expensive to amass the pennies.

I meant to say, "more difficult and expensive to amass than the pennies"

According to that wikipedia page on current circulating currencies, the most popular terms for penny is:
81 cent
27 centime
15 centavo
11 penny
6 centimo
6 sen
5 fils
5 piastre
4 paisa
3 re
3 none
3 tetri

An eBay search for the top five terms, cent, centime, centavo, penny, centimo results in zero results! That includes a body and description search. Maybe centime and centimo are confusing, let's delete those and try an eBay search for cent, centavo, penny, sen.

Whooooa. yeah. It got one result. "Collection of 91 World Copper Coins" Starting bid $3.75, shipping $6.65. So that's about ten bucks. Well you look at that. But 23 of those coins are from Canada. boo.

as a side note, I love the English pound. They are the perfect size, thickness and weight.

You can have my pennies. Ever last one. Come and get 'em.

By the way, not sure why, but your page is now uber-wide. I have to scroll for days to get from one side of the page to the next. The reply page here isn't like that, but the home page of the random thoughts blog is.

Maybe it's just me
