hard candy sucks

Who likes hard candy? It sucks. (a bit of a pun there, cuz you have to suck on hard candy to eat it)

It's not at the top of my list, though I used to Pep-O-Mint Life Savers like they were going out of style. Speaking of Life Savers that are going out of style, the original 5 Flavor Roll is making a permanent change. The only original flavors remaining are pineapple and cherry. Out are lemon, lime, and orange. The new flavors, including cherry and pineapple, are watermelon, raspberry, and blackberry.

Peppermint hard candies, often offered for free at restaurants, are quite good. Butterscotch hard candies are good too.

ah yeah, the peppermint candy (or the "sagamint" as we called them at college) are quite tasty.

And what is up with Life Savers changing? But i can see why they are changing the flavors, alot of them are duds. Good for them, putting in better flavors. I'm all for that change.

It's funny when I post things about how i don't like something, because then everyone knows I don't like it, and when someone offers me something I don't like, other people like to point out that I don't like it, and it becomes an awful social situation.

Like carrot cake. I formed an anti-carrot-cake group on yahoo, and now whenver we have carrot cake at work, people like to point out how i don't like it. Well, I'll eat it and enjoy it, but it's not one of my favorite things. Plus, carrot cake is so easy to make fun of.

And some carrot cakes I really like. For instance, Tom Saaristo's carrot cake is very yummy. And i'm not just sayin that cuz he reads my blog, either.

Is it okay to dislike actual hard candy but like the Counting Crows album "Hard Candy"? ;o)

Posted by: Crissy on Nov 03, 03 | 6:40 pm

when i was a kid, my mom wouldn't let us have hard candy (or gum) because she was afraid we'd choke on it. once my little sister (who was about 5) got some hard candy and ate it in the car after school, and my mom drove the entire after-school carpool to the doctors office because she was afraid my sister had choked on it (my sister just ate it, no sign of choking or anything, she was smiling away). my mom was a little overprotective when i was a kid.

I usually use hard candy in lieu of cough drops. Tastes much better, and no nasty menthol.

i like tamarind hard candy

I LOVE root beer barrels, that is the best hard candy ever invented. :p

Counting Crows are cool. Tamarind hard candy? Are you kidding? Where do you get that? Laura, your car pool story is pretty unbelieveable!

We have a candy jar at work. It's usually got some sort of chocolate candy in it. The unspoken rule is that if you take candy from the candy jar, you are expected, at some point, to buy candy for the candy jar. Sometimes someone will buy hard candy and people will moan and complain. It's never decent hard candy either. But it's not nasty Grandma candy either.

I have to stick with sucking Life Savers. I haven't bought any in a decade, but if there was only hard candy, I'd choose Life Savers. Gee, I guess it's true...hard candy sucks! Bring on the Kit Kats!

Oh, yeah, root beer barrels! Those are awesome. Some are superior in quality to others, but the unlabeled ones you get out of the big barrel at, say, Knott's Berry Farm, are the best, and who knows what brand you're getting there . . .

I also like butterscotch, but it's way too addictive. Can't have just one . . .

we have hard candy at work that taste like dreamsicles! they're yummy.

tom, i think that your comment was unfairly accusatory against me. would i make up a story like that?

tamarind hard candy..... a guy i work with has it. he gave up smoking a while ago, and now is our department candy hound. i think he gets it at an asian grocery store. it's great!

My apologies, Laura. Sometimes it's hard to read tone and intent in email and on boards like this. I didn't intend to accuse. I believed you, I was just quite surprised. Thanks for the link. I'll have to check it out. ;^]

on that link, is the candy the yellow discs or the weird brown things on the package?

Posted by: spudart on Nov 06, 03 | 7:31 am

i think laura is faking it. i think that website is something she threw together to fake us all out. i'm not buying it, laura!

laura, you had the 5000th comment on spudart.org! It was here when you said, "it's good stuf. don't knock it till you try it!" on January 2, 2005 at 5:08pm

Posted by: spudart on Jan 03, 05 | 12:42 pm

Wow! 5,000 comments!! Remarkable!

Posted by: Tom on Jan 03, 05 | 1:04 pm

sometime i'm gonna make a little pie chart of how many comments the visitors of spudart.org have left. There is this member page, http://www.spudart.org/blogs/members/profile_view_all.php?id=0_0_0
but it doesn't list the total comments left, because nobody signs in under their username. (I can manually go into the database and do a search for people's names instead)

Posted by: spudart on Jan 03, 05 | 1:08 pm

actually, check that. It looks like Crissy uses her username, and so does Damion. But unlikelymoose has surely left more than 102 comments, and certainly Tom has left more than TWO comments. haha.

But it's so nice to have such great people that come to my site and leave comments. Spudart.org is very grateful.

Posted by: spudart on Jan 03, 05 | 1:11 pm

Wow! I left two comments?! That's wild! I need to step it up! LOL!

Posted by: Tom on Jan 03, 05 | 1:34 pm

my 5000 comment could also apply to this site in general. "it's good stuf!"
