My vote is for "silly".
Some of the choices are a little archaic and I think that in order for the word to be number one, it has to cross generations. Silly is a word that people have used from early in their lives to later in their lives. Maybe something would prompt a search for silly, like a memory or just hearing the word.

I am going to vote for absurd...because it is used quite frequently, but its meaning isn't inherently obvious...so it's possible people would see ABSURD in a sentence and not quite know what it meant.

are these my only choices?

I vote for absurd....because what is a "bsurd"? Or maybe psycho beccause it has too many useless letters.

laura, you can choose from the above words, or if you have another silly word, go ahead and put it out there, it may very well be the new #1 word.

will the #1 silly word be determined by what we all say here, or is it predetermined elsewhere?

I have a resource that tells me what are the most searched words on the internet. It is a particular search engine that reveals their information.

ah, i see. most "searched" word on the internet. but there should be a poll on what people utter out loud in everyday life. i don't usually search for terms involving the word "goofy" on the internet. but my speech patterns tend to be more casual.
so you are keeping this search engine secret? will this search engine be revealed at the same time the most searched word is revealed? i am most intrigued.

I wonder, what date does the answer lie in? The date you posted this entry, or the date you will reveal the answer?
It would be curious to know if the "most searched" word changes from day to day. Does it?
How often do "most searched" words change?
I'm sticking with my answer, but I think it would be interesting to know what the "most searched absurd word" was on the date you posted this [presuming that's what prompted this entry] and what the "most searched absurd word" is on December 3 when you reveal the answer...and the source ;^]

I'm going to go to a popular search engine and keep searching for "silly" to see if I can get it to rank higher :Op

Why don't you just guess the word, Laura?
(Yes, I will reveal where I got the info from. The results will be based on searches in October 2003. If November is also available by Dec 3, I will also merge in those results)

tom, now you need to use the word "crazy" in all your recipes! Crazy Carrot Cake! Crazy Bouillabaisse Saaristo!

spudart on Dec 15, 03 | 3:14 pm
That's brilliant! I should have the "Crazy" recipes series!
Posted by:
Tom on Dec 15, 03 | 3:34 pm
yeah, just don't call it the "screwy" recipes series. Nobody searches for "screwy." "Screwy" like, just sucks.
Posted by:
spudart on Dec 15, 03 | 3:36 pm
Screwy recipes would suck too! Screwed-up recipes would suck too! I'm not about screwy or screwed up recipes!
Posted by:
Tom on Dec 15, 03 | 3:44 pm
"Screwed-up pumpkin pie"
Yeah, that's not gonna fly.
Posted by:
spudart on Dec 15, 03 | 3:45 pm
Screwed-up Pumpkin Pie is redundant.
HA! Just kidding...but I couldn't resist...in any event, I like Sweet Potato Pie better...As long as it's not screwy
