This 50 dollar bill belongs to

Don't ever write your name and address on a fifty dollar bill.

It looks like someone was going to write their name and address on the back of a 50-dollar bill. This person was perhaps imagining that MAYBE someone might find it and actually return it to him/her.

But then common sense probably struck this person that it might not be a good idea to do this, because someone might get this big bill and see that this person has large bills and show up at this person's place to rob him/her.

It wasn't someone else who scratched out the name and address, because it looks like the same ink and pen used to write "THIS BELONGS TO" was the same pen used to scratch it out.

Can I borrow $50?

Actually there is a cool website out there that allows you to track money that has had the website address stamped to it [I know, I know, defacing money is wrong, but I'm ignoring it in this case]. You go to the website and enter the serial number to register it. Then you can choose to have emails sent to you whenever someone else a]gets the bill and b] bothers to post the serial number to the site.

I received a bill as some change and then spent it and soon after received an email with a description of where the bill was and how the person got it.

Here's the site

i've seen that site. A few years ago I received a $1 bill with the wheresgeorge.com tag. I went to the site and the person who started the bill's life on wheresgeorge.com had hundreds of bills he/she was tracking. Can you imagine that? He/she went to the bank; got out hundreds of singles; went home and wrote out wheresgeorge.com on every single bill and spent them all. that's a bit crazy.

it's good to see the site is still around. it's a neat concept. i entered in where i received and spent my dollar bill on wheresgeorge.com, but the receipient did not follow up.

if i recall correctly, spud used to write things on $5 in college, hoping to spread that information around. i think he put his website address on the bills? or maybe not, since spudart.org didn't exist back then.

that looks like your handwriting on the $50 bill.

oh i'm so busted! yeah, it's my handwriting. it just made for a more funny story if i told it as if i found it. *giggle*
