Quotes by Matt Maldre

Everyone should have their own collection of insightful quotes they have said. Thanks to the age of the internet, I'm able to go back to previous blog posts and comments to find some of my sayings.

"Giving thanks are the concrete steps to happiness"
Matt Maldre, 2008

"Because we live on a globe, wherever you are, you are on top of the world."
Matt Maldre, 2003

"Age is not how old you are, but how many years of fun you’ve had."
Matt Maldre, 2007

"There's none better traction than the treads on your own two shoes."
Matt Maldre, 2008

"Do not throw away unused napkins."
Matt Maldre, 2008

"With large umbrellas, come large responsibilities"
Matt Maldre, 2003

"I like the word 'understanding,' because it's standing under something. We always try to climb on top of things, instead of getting underneath."
—Matt Maldre, circa 2008

"Walking backwards is a lot like life. You can't really see where you going, only where you've been. You can kinda know where you are going, but you never know exactly what's ahead."
—Matt Maldre, circa 1997
I encourage anyone to write something down if you or someone else says something insightful.

Here's a new one.

Matt Maldre, 2008

To dork or not to dork? Is that the questions... ?I love dorks, never talk about my dorks... I'm a dork! Yeah, dorks and geeks rule the planet!!! As it should be.. Adrienne,

here's one from me from about a year ago:

"I only like math when it's in my favor".
-erik maldre 2007

"Tourists who go to outer space should stay out there."
--matt maldre, 2008 (IM conversation with Lisa S)

"Every person has their own black hole inside their head."
--matt maldre, 2008 (IM conversation with Lisa S, just minutes after the first quote)

"So many of us speak foolish when we should be speaking english."
--Matt Maldre, 2008 (same IM conversation as the previous one!)

I just re-read that last quote by me and it sounds like it might have racist undertones. But it really doesn't. Here is the origin of this quote:

==========================================
Lisa S: anyway, what i was saying was, space junk gets eaten up by our black hole, which will then ultimately end up getting spit out by the corresponding white hole
it's a neverending cycle!

spudart: WHITE HOLE?
spudart: NO WAY
spudart: YOU SPEAK FOOLISH
spudart: please speak english

Lisa S: a white hole is the opposite of a black hole instead of sucking things in, it spits stuff out in massive amounts

spudart: "So many of us speak foolish when we should be speaking english." --Matt Maldre, 2008
==========================================

and yes, when i'm typing in an instant message to be a great quote, I do put it in quotes and put my attribution on it. That makes it funny.

One of my favorite Matt-ributes is the fact that you can have two conversations in one with him. The first conversation is what YOU think you're talking about with him. The second conversation is what the conversation morphs into after he adds his little interjections. (See previous posts above for examples.)

In that conversation, we started out talking about weird happenings in space and ended up with several new quotes! How do ya like that?!

"If you're going to make a weird salad, at least make it a good weird salad." -- Lisa S., 2008

If there are any foodies on this board, what the eff is a currant? Apparently, there are some in my salad from Corner Bakery. Not sure if I like that.

Posted by: Lisa S. on Jul 30, 08 | 2:25 pm

+raising hand+ Foodie here! A currant is a small variety of the seedless grape. I put them in my Carrot Cake ;)

Thanks Tom! I seriously want to return this salad. I'm not sure what the culprit is, but something in there is super crunchy -- like take-out-a-filling kinda crunchy.

Here's what's SUPPOSED to be in there:

"Crisp green apples, toasted walnuts, bleu cheese and currants tossed with our mixed greens, balsamic vinaigrette and harvest crisps."

I know, I know. The obvious culprit would likely be the "harvests crisps" (a.k.a. croutons), but I haven't eaten any!

Hope I'm not eating bugs.

Currants are harder than raisins, but unless they are ancient, they aren't "super crunchy". I'd definitely take the salad back and talk to the manager.

"Super crunchy currants are not good."
