| Some scientists feel we have 90-minute cycles of creativity. Because it's impossible to know where in this cycle you are at any given time, you have work at least that length of time - the longer the better - before you hit your creative stride. Source: unknown. It's from an email i recieved |
And an interesting parallel... Humans dream in 90 minute cycles. Seeing that dreams are creative activities. This would make sense that it would carry over to when we are awake. And even more interesting is that we have cycles that go: 90-minute period of sharp intellect and then a 90-minute period of creativity. Makes me wonder when I am in which period. |
| A person with 90-minute cycles does better getting six hours of sleep (four complete cycles) than six hours and 45 minutes. Sleep takes nearly 24 hours to kick in. Consequently, the amount of sleep two nights before an event - not the night before - is the determining factor in your energy level. Source: http://www.nervousnero.com/am/0011/lbp-fitness.html |
"that might help to explain why people are so wiped out on Mondays -- no sleep on Saturday night!" ~Maureen Quinlan "ah yes! true! and it's kinda like when you workout. You don't really feel it until a couple days after! hmmmm, interesting. It all ties together." ~me |
| We might become aware of the 90-minute cycles in which the brain tends toward one hemisphere and then the other. There is no practical way to schedule our lives around this cycle, but we might make some concessions to the fact that one 90-period will allow us a sharper intellect (from the left hemisphere), while the subsequent 90-minute period will grant us more creativity (from the right hemisphere)." This cycle is probably identical to the 90-minute sleep cycle (i.e., the REM cycle); during sleep, the brain proceeds through a 90-minute cycle which is characterized by various levels of brain activity, with REM dreams commencing at the same point in each cycle. Interesting how we have a creative cycle and then an intellectual cycle. |
