These came about as a result working for a long time with xeroxes. I incorporated xeroxes of all types into my work in different ways: cut, paste; using them as negatives. During this xerox stage, I was experimenting with the physical properties of paper and photopaper.
The xeroxes had very limited depth and I wanted to give more dimensionality to them. I thought of putting my head into an aquarium filled with water and press my face against the side, a similiar act to xeroxing one's face. Here the space around my head is activated through the use of water and depth.
I've also found this series explores themes of preservation, baptism, renewal and death. |
