Vote and help make city history for Decatur, Illinois as they pick the sculpture for the 2009 Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial. The winning model will be announced following Black History Month.
My brother and I voted for option #1, so our two votes accounted for the 16 it got so far. The leading option has just 62 votes! Let’s swing the vote to get option number one picked! Vote today at the City of Decatur – New Sculpture Poll.
Every few days I’ll check in on their poll and report the status. Let’s see Monument 1 rise up in the rankings!
As of February 11, 2007: Monument 1 16 Votes 10.46% Monument 2 26 Votes 16.99% Monument 3 49 Votes 32.03% Monument 4 62 Votes 40.52%
I voted, but not for #1
that’s so cool. my hometown is decatur, il and i’m really excited for the statue. i voted for #2 because i like its modernist feel instead of the more traditonal forms.
I’m sorry, but Decatur? How is that a Lincoln tie in?
Lincoln is everywhere! Including Decatur.
As of February 12, 2007 2:52pm Monument 1 19 Votes 10.38% Monument 2 32 Votes 17.49% Monument 3 54 Votes 29.51% Monument 4 78 Votes 42.62% I can’t believe it. Monument 1 is actually losing percentage points. It got 3 votes since yesterday, but it’s not enough! We need more votes!
I cast my vote already. But we have a different choice. I went for the third choice.
I voted for the fourth one. Not just because it’s the popular vote though. I love the lines to it. It has such grace effortlessly.
As of February 13, 2008 9:24am Monument 1 24 Votes 11.32% Monument 2 36 Votes 16.98% Monument 3 57 Votes 26.89% Monument 4 95 Votes 44.81% One of the reasons why monument 4 is in the lead, because it’s the only statue that actually looks like something. And here’s my problem. It looks like guns. LOTS OF GUNS. If you like guns, vote for number four. Me personally, I’m not a big fan of guns, so I do not vote for number four.
