Music sounds so much better when it’s recommended by someone you know

A friend over at Rule29 recommended Chris Botti a jazz musician (reference: Something New For Your Music Radar). I’m digging on Chris Botti now. It’s funny how when someone recommends music to you, it sounds much better than it just being buried among all the other options out there. I like jazz music. I like trumpets. But normally Chris Botti would just be another jazz trumpet player. But since Rule29 recommended it, I’m actually going to buy one of his albums and truly enjoy listening to it. Give Chris Botti a shot on last.fm.

I would have to agree with the title of this post. A friend visiting from Atlanta brought a Dustin O’Halloran CD for me to listen to while we caught up over coffee and I think it was the whole experience that really endeared me to O’Halloran’s classical piano, something I have nothing of in my entire music library.

It’s always good to listen and enjoy new music. I get addicted to music after seeing a live performance. Which is usually by recommendation. So, I’m sort-of in the same boat.
