Let me ask you a question:
If there are bagels offered in the office. You want half. Do you take the top of the bagel?
Answer:
You never take just the top and leave the bottom. Instead you cut the bagel in half and take the top and bottom of that half. But when you cut the bagel, your hand only touches your half while cutting.
It may be easiest to just take the pre-cut top. But c’mon. That’s like ripping the head off a muffin. Nobody wants the muffin stem. The muffinhead is the best part. Same holds true for bagels. Nobody wants the bagel butt. Please be considerate and don’t take just the bageltop.
Thank you.

I mean I agree with you that the optimum half bagel would be as pictured and circled in blue. However, it is kind of unsanitary. If you did not see the bagel get sliced, then one would assume that it was grabbed by a foreign hand to slice the bagel in your recommended way. yuck. (this comment is assuming that the bagel was pre-cut when purchased)
Hello, hello! Actually that optimum half bagel was sliced by me. But yes, for others, they don’t don’t know that I carefully cut it. The funny thing is that how do you think these bagels got made in the first place? They might have been handled by people wearing plastic gloves. But I’m betting they were put into a box or bag with regular human hands. Then regular human hands took them out of the box/bag and put them into a rack in the restaurant. Then some bare hands took them out of the restaurant and put them back into a box or bag. And then the person who bought them used their bare hands to put the bagels on a plate. In my count, that’s around four different sets of hands that have already touched the bagel. Yet people freak out when someone else touched the bagel to cut it.
You are correct, spud. Also, when you want to cut a bagel in half, you should put a napkin over the half you will not be taking and put your hand on it to stabilize it while you cut
tom, the napkin is a good idea. But when you cut a bagel in half, you only need to hold one half of the bagel; and that would be your half. The other half remains completely untouched by human hands (except for the four different sets of hands that it took for the bagel to reach your display plate)
I also use the napkin as a visual indicator that the piece that is covered is not mine; also, there is less chance that I will even accidentally touch the half that is not mine. I just need more “help” than most. Too, I’ve been learning more and more about not touching someone else’s food from a friend at work. But hey, at least we’re on point with the proper bagel manners
LOL. tom, you like to touch other people’s food at work? LOL. I highly do not see that happening. What are you doing to your coworkers’ food?
LOL! Nothing, I hope! My co-worker always deliver any food he brings me wrapped in 2 layers of paper towel … even if it is in its original wrapper! I be sure to do the same when I give him food, but it took me a while to learn that little bit of OCD. Oh, and there is never any food in the breakroom here. The second something gets put down for “first come first served”, it’s gone.
do you think your workplace has little mice that steals all the food in the breakroom?
My workplace has nice that come in after 5 and sit at my desk with their lunch, watch TV and leave their garbage on my desk and in my garbage can. That doesn’t happen everyday, but the precedent was set after2 times
Do these mice wear hats?
