There needs to be a website that shows the average gas bill for apartments across the country. The above map from the Energy Information Administration comes kinda close, but only lists the price of gas. Not how much an apartment uses.
I’d like a map to break out the gas costs into studio, one bedroom, two bedroom, and three bedroom. Or maybe it could break it out by square feet. This information should be available on the web. I just want to know the average gas bill for a studio in Chicago.
In case you’re curious, you can see the cost of electricity at: http://www.eia.doe.gov/bookshelf/brochures/rep/index.html but it only gives cents per kilowatt over time. It doesn’t show the average cost for an apartment.
I wonder if Com Ed would have those stats? I can’t imagine anyone else having the time or the resources to get an average for all of the studio apartments in Chicago.
i’m not sure com ed has those stats. but they will tell you the average monthly cost of an apt, if you have the address. everyone uses different amounts of electricity, but if you’re looking at renting a certain place it can give you an idea of costs.
Just stay away from Georgia and Alabama. Mercy!
It kinda makes sense that Georgia and Alabama would be expensive. They don’t need the heating gas down there, so the gov’t can tax the gas more, because it’s not used as much.
