Film is back. Chicago Book Club interviewed three film houses in Chicago, Meet The Young Photographers Bringing Film Back — And Creating A More Diverse Scene
Their first example, “Constant Agitation Film Lab,” charges $10 for film develop only. So no scans or prints. Which sounds… I dunno, is that a lot or a little? I haven’t had film developed in forever. Let’s look at some prices online.
Walgreens still develops film. They charge $15.99 and include a CD of digital images. I imagine they are somewhat low-resolution JPGs.
It’s nice that Constant Agitation includes options for the resolution of the scans. The cheapest develop/scan is $18. So that’s comparable to Walgreens’ $16. If someone goes with higher-quality scan, that’s $23. We have numbers flying everywhere. Let’s put it into a nice list.
Comparison of prices

Drop-off locations at Cafe Tola in Avondale, Lakeview and Logan Square (neighborhoods of Chicago)
