Everyone is familiar with the image of Jesus on a cross that we tend to forget the pain and humility involved.
Imagine someone taking their pet dog and duct taping his paws to the wall and letting him die there. It’s incredibly sick and wrong. Now imagine someone doing that to a human.
Back in the time of Christ, hanging a person on a cross was the Romans most humiliating and painful way to execute someone. Left hanging and hanging while everyone sees him slowly die.
Imagine your best friend who had nothing to do with something that you did wrong. And this best friend sticks up for you and takes the blame. That’s what Christ did here for us. We were made to walk with God in fellowship. And we screw up over and over. We defiantly disobey Him. We should get punishment for all the wrong things we’ve done. But then Jesus takes all that punishment. How could one person do this? Well, Jesus is God. Like GOD. Like perfect powerful God. He healed people. He raised people from the dead! Someone might say, “that didn’t happen.” But even his enemies are on record observing this. It actually happened. He controlled the weather while at sea! He is like so incredibly powerful. Imagine the smartest person you personally know. Yeah, that person is pretty smart, right? Ok, imagine someone like Einstein. That dude was like really smart. Wouldn’t it be cool if Einstein did you a favor. You would totally brag about that. “Look Einstein did me this favor!” It would be so great, cuz this totally smart person helped you out. Now imagine someone even smarter than Einstein. Let’s say… GOD. He knows it all, man! EVERYTHING. He knows how leaves are formed. He knows how wind forms. He can even control it. He’s like mega-super incredible, it’s so hard to grasp how incredible He is. He’s GOD. So when he dies for us, you know that those sins are taken away. He is the perfect atonement. It’s like Jesus says, “it’s alright, you screwed up. Just keep following me. Just believe that I took that punishment away. You don’t have to suffer.”
i was wondering what provoked this particular line of thought. then i remembered that easter is this weekend! now i get it. <thumps own head as light bulb goes off>
it’s the most amazing thing ever that God would do this for us. especially since Jesus never committed any sin…. so He BECAME a curse on our behalf: Galatians 3:13 “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”*)” The * there is referencing Deuteronomy 21:22-23 “If a man has committed a sin deserving of death, and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree, his body shall not remain overnight on the tree, but you shall surely bury him that day, so that you do not defile the land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance; for he who is hanged is accursed of God.” wow
i was reading a bible script and i relized that god is always watching over us and gives goods to people who surve him by doing good deeds and helping people when they can.
God is beyond amazing. He can do all things he knows all things He is all things. God is everywhere and hears everything. God hears everyword you say every thought you think before you even think it. He is an ALL powerful ALL knowing God and he is Amazing. God is the greatest hero of all time. you ask someone about heroes all the time and normally you hear about role models or movies but what about Jesus? A hero is someone who is distinguished by his/her courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. Ok so a knight is noble and kills people and we call him a hero. A firefighter runs into a burning building and risk his life to save someone elses bc it is his job and he wants to thus making him a hero. Now think about it. Jesus didnt risk his life he gave his life he endured the most unthinkable punishment and torture for somethin he didnt even do. Jesus hung on a cross for sins we committed. Jesus is a hero!! He is beyond a superhero batman cant even compare. Jesus raised men from the dead, he walked on water, and HE DIED FOR OUR SIN!!!!!!!!! That my friends is a hero nothin else can compare. so why cant we be heroes to? why cant we act more christ like and be the modern day heroes God needs to walk the earth and to tell ppl about him. God isnt asking for us to go thro what jesus did we dont have to bc Jesus did. All we have to do is spend time with God everyday live by his laws do what he ask and spread his word and yet we struggle and pass up opportunity after opportunity. And guys i am talking to myself here to we all need to step up; stand up for God! Stop laying around get on your feet and screaam at the top of your lungs I LOVE JESUS AND I WANT TO BE A HERO JUST LIKE HIM! It is time to act fellow christians it is time to stand up and take the world by suprise it is time that everyone knows who God is it is time for Gods light to shine thro all of us. IT IS TIME! Are you a hero? if not, will you be? its time i love you guys and i kno none of you know me and i know none of you but i can honestly say my walk with God has not been were it should be but im changing and im making a stand im tired of the old me im tired of seeing my friends in the youth group struggle im speaking tom at FCA at my highschool and i hope God will speak thro me bc i am ready to make a stand no matter what with God by my side i can do whatever he ask me to. It only takes the faith of a mustard seed to move mountains. Goodnight i love you
