Kryptonite discovered in Serbian mine

In Superman, Kryptonite is called sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide. And that’s what was found in this Serbian mine.

From the BBC:

The mineral cannot be called kryptonite under international nomenclature rules because it has nothing to do with krypton – a real element in the Periodic Table that takes the form of a gas.

Instead, it will be formally named Jadarite when it is described in the European Journal of Mineralogy later this year.

Jadar is the name of the place where the Serbian mine is located.

So will the Superman comics now call it Jadarite? Not as cool sounding as Kryptonite, but it’s still sounds kinda cool. Jadarite! (say it in a loud deep voice). JADARITE! And oh, don’t pronounce the “J” as a “J,” say it as a Y. Yah-dar-ite!…. Superman, I will destroy you with this Yah-dar-ite!!!

Am I missing something? Jadarite is not found on the planet Krypton.

minded? how does one go about minding Jadarite? Is Jadarite supposed to be capped? What is a citizen of Krypton called? They can’t be called Kryptonites. That’s the sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide you speak of. Correct me if I’m wrong, Superman fans, but I always thought people living on Krypton had no super powers because their planet was infested with Kryptonite. Oh wait a minute. Doesn’t it have something to do with the Sun? If Superman’s powers are solar-powered, then why doesn’t he lose his strength when he travels to other solar systems? Heck, why doesn’t he lose his strength when the Sun sets at night?

HEY! GUESS WHAT! I found a kryponite ring on ebay. I want to ask the seller the following question: Can you assure me that this is truly sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide? I need a ring made of pure Kryptonite which is sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide. A faux Kryptonite ring will not suit my needs. It would be rendered useless. If your Kryptonite ring is truly made of sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide, then I would desire for it to be shipped FedEx Priority Mail for I would need this kryptonite ring as soon as possible before it’s too late. Here’s the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/1990-Superman-Magnetic-Kryptonite-Ring_W0QQitemZ190104630499QQihZ009QQcategoryZ19079QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

For those who don’t know Kryptonite is a fictional substance from the Superman comic book series (and subsequent related media). The material, usually shown as having been created from the remains of Superman’s native planet of Krypton, generally has detrimental effects on Superman. The name “kryptonite” covers a variety of forms of the substance, but usually refers to the most common “green” form.Bakers Racks
