(painting by NAY)
People love quotations.
People love paintings.
I want to make paintings of quotations. And not your typical inspirational-lala-poster type. But something real. Like that artist named NAY that Erik Maldre featured on etsyart.com.
Paintings with quotations
Happening right now on Spudart: Press a leaf in an envelope with the date and story written on it until 2026-10-31
I’d love that! I do love quotes! And they will look good as paintings! You should make more of them. Each suited to the quote.
One of my Painting Professors is really against the use of words in paintings. I don’t mind them if they are subtle…I think that it ceases to be a painting and becomes something else… I will have to look up this Nay fellow.
Why can’t it still be a painting? Let’s say it becomes a poem. Or a design. Ok. But why can’t it also be a painting? Viva la words! This only makes me want to put even more words in paintings. Or to take famous paintings and put words over them. Too bad famous paintings aren’t in the public domain. Or are there some?
That reminds me of a construction barricade painted by kids in LA. There were several panels of quotes (their own statements I believe). My favorite was: “I am going to have an adventure. -Miguel” http://flickr.com/photos/digicat/sets/72157602546341523/
