When you see “spudart,” how do you read it? spu-dart? spud-art? I’m shocked whenever someone seriously reads it, “spu-dart.” It’s as though this person does not understand the english language.
spu dart?
What is a “spu?” And why would you say “spu” before the word “dart?” That makes absolutely no sense. Granted “spud-art” doesn’t initially make a whole lotta sense either, but at least it’s two english words. A “spu” is a nothing. It’s not even a word.
I was on the phone with my hosting company, data393. And the guy asked me–and i’m serious–“is your email the one at S, P, U, dart dot org?” And i’m like, “you mean SPUD ART.” And if i could, I would have slapped him in the face.”

What is WRONG with people? Your icon is clearly a potato! Even before I knew YOU I knew it was a potato and you were SPUD art. Sheesh. Let’s blame public schools.
i read it as Spud-Art !
but as we’ve discussed ive always meant my email address to mean ORBITAL ONE instead of the sad ORBIT ALONE but a lot of people think the latter!
i’m glad my website or email is not pen island.
Pen Island.. or Experts Exchange. My post from yesterday should clear up any confusion about the pronunciation of “spudart”
Let me tell you as the creator of spudart, it is pronounced “spudart” as in the potato. Spud. Not spoo. Not spu. Spud. Like the potato. Once someone seriously thought it was “studart.” Like i would have a website called studart. Oh man.
You should start “studart”.. I’ll never visit it.
Why should I call it something so you never visit. I would not like that.
I read it as Spud- Art. I think it has something to do with how I read the D. I wonder if it’s a right brain, left brain thing?
Interesting point, eliana. Maybe left brainers split a word with a descender to the right, while right brainers split it to the left of the descender. Or maybe it’s flipped.
