Shredded carrots as a snack are messy

Seeing that baby carrots are too loud to eat at work as a snack, i’m trying shredded carrots. They are great! Only thing is that they are a bit messy if you grab a bunch at once. But eating one shred at a time works great.

It’s also reminiscent of Big League Chew.

think carrots are too loud? try celery. try Krunchers chips [they sure do live up to their name – i get comments on my “loud” chips almost every time i eat them”>. or you could just buy your coworkers each an iPod, and then eat whatever you want.

Wow, if only everyone was as considerate as you. Maybe we wouldn’t have people stinking up the office with fish or days-old vegetables in the microwave, or burned popcorn or people chewing with their mouths open or talking with their mouths full. Eating shredded carrots one shred at a time seems a little extreme to me. I hope everyone appreciates your efforts, even if they are a bit unorthodox.

You can make batteries out of a potato too, can’t you?

well tom, you sure can. actually, i’m not sure of the batteryness of radishes, but i’ve been told [by battery-lickers”> that radishes TASTE like batteries, due to their alkaline nature. i was on a radish kick last spring, and someone mentioned this. i myself have never licked a battery, and don’t plan to, so i’ve only got secondhand information on this subject. however, i believe you can indeed make a battery out of a potato. i’ve never tried this either, but i think spud should do an experiment, seeing as he’s the potato man around here.

The best carrots I’ve ever had were in Mexico…my host mom had soaked them in lime juice….they were awesome. I can never get them to taste as good as they were then.

The most common lime in the U.S. is the Persian lime. In the rest of the world, the most common lime is the Key Lime. I’m willing to bet your host mom used Key Limes for the carrots. That would be enough of a change that you might have trouble duplicating the recipe.

Well…thanks Tom..now if I can just find a way to smuggle in some of those Key Limes…everything will be well in the world…hehe… I wonder what limes they use in the REAL lemon lime juice?

Stay away from most bottled citrus juices like “REAL” lemon or “REAL” lime. They may have some real juice, but they also have other ingredients you may not want. You CAN buy key limes in the U.S. Most of them come through Florida, but your local market may carry them. Key limes are smaller than Persian limes. Some places will sell them individually by the pound, others will offer them pre-packaged in netted bags. To contradict my warning, you CAN find pre-bottled Key Lime juice. The only brand, in my opinion, is Nellie & Joe’s, which is more readily available than fresh key limes.
