I am a twin. My name is Matt. My twin’s name is Erik. My parents are smart. They gave us names that sound different. It allows us to be individuals. Again, let me stress how smart my parents are.
Then there are parents who name their children Tyler and Taylor. Those parents are dumb. If you are one of those parents, you are dumb.
To see what to NOT name your twins, just go to the Popular names for twins as tallied by the Social Security Administration. They list the top 100 twin names for the previous year. It’s chock full of confusing doozies. Here’s a sneek preview of the top ten most confusing names.
| Rank | Names | Number |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Jacob, Joshua | 67 |
| 2 | Matthew, Michael | 54 |
| 3 | Daniel, David | 52 |
| 4 | Ella, Emma | 38 |
| 5 | Isaac, Isaiah | 38 |
| 6 | Madison, Morgan | 36 |

I feel sorry for all these people. It’s hard enough for high school kids to keep Erik and Matt straight. I cannot imagine Brandon and Bryan.

“It’s hard enough for high school kids to keep Erik and Matt straight” Do you know why? Because people are lazy and dumb. I’ve known twins throughout my life and I’ve never been “fooled” by their mischief when trying to confuse me. Why? Because I’m 110% visual and no matter how much alike twins are, they are still individuals and have their own … something! Whether a twins’ classmate or friend can or can’t tell the difference between them wholly depends on how smart and determined that person is.

A big shout out to Kim & Kassie Kretzschmar with whom I went to high school
So the last time I was on Metra, I encountered a family that sort of overtook the whole car. There were about nine kids under the age of 10. Anyway, four (FOUR) of them had similar names: Alexis, Alexia, and the twins Alexander and Alexavier. Yeah – disgusting.
Alexander and Alexavier… ALEXIAVIER? nonononoNONONONOOOOOOO!
Yeah, we had twins in our high school a few years older than me named Pat and Pam. I always felt sorry for them. My parents were smart too. Jill and Chellie. Totally different names.
