Every time someone says, “Did you know that Chipotle is owned by McDonalds,” this offender owes $1.00 to the person that they told. This will be a nation-wide trend on par of the slugbug/punchbug and “pinch poke owe me a coke!” Now it just needs a fun phrase and action.
“Chipotle Noway–Buck you pay” Ok, it doesn’t really roll off the tongue.
Here are the other brainfarts that fell on the floor: chipotle cliche dolla’ way Chipotle Slay what you say give me dollar pay Chipotle Chokeslam Chipotle Crossface Chipotle Clothesline Chipotle Cannon
Does the person have to say it just like that? “Did you know…” When people ask me why I don’t eat at Chipotle I answer “Because they are owned by McDonald’s and I don’t support McDonald’s” … Do I owe the person who started the conversation a buck? Here are some phrase ideas “Burrito Buck” “Gordito Greenback” [Greenback is prolly too ol’ fashioned”> “Saved by the Bell” [As in Taco Bell”>
We don’t have a Chipotle… Therefore I can’t play…
Chipotle is good. Although I heard one of their burritos has the same amount of fat as two big macs. Oh phew, that was a close one. I almost mentioned that Chipotle was owned by McDonalds! Oh oops.
You can put the dollar on my tab…
Chipotle is not OWNED by McD’s, McD’s has a financial interest in it. like one-fifth. not that i’m excusing it! i avoided the Chip for a long time cuz of this. but i succumbed. it tastes great. not authentically Mexican, of course, but as long as you all agree that it’s “fake” Mexican and that you’re not really getting a taste south of the border, it’s all cool. plus they have beer and take credit cards!
McDonald’s’ initial interest in Chipotle [back in the 90’s”> was around 20% … today they own 90% of the company. I would say that qualifies as owning the company. McDonald’s also has a vested financial interest in Boston Market, though I’m not sure how much Reports last year said that McDonald’s was looking for buyers for both fast food chains and a third called Donato’s, with which I am unfamilar. By the way, Laura, the McDonald’s out in Oak Brook next to their headquarters, sells beer too … and wine … and pizza … and a bunch of stuff you won’t see at other Mickey D restaurants. I’ve heard that offerings vary regionally as well.
When you begin trading public shares for your company, any one company or individual that owns a majority of the stock (51% amd above) also owns the company. Steve Ellis is still the CEO, but McDonald’s owns Chipotle, it’s much more than just a financial interest.
The McDonald’s in Oakbrook is a regular McDonald’s. The one in Oakbrook (off Midwest road) is actually farther away from the Head Quarters than the one in Lombard (off York road). The one in Lombard is probably the nicest one I’ve seen, they’ve got paintings and sort of a 1 and 1/2 story design setup and the outside looks more like a country house, but they just serve regular food – same as the one in oakbrook. There is also nothing special about the Chipotle in Oakbrook (off 22nd).
but do they have swirl cones? that is the question. a lot of mcdonalds don’t have swirl anymore. its upsetting.
