Trump and Nakheel’s tulip-shaped hotel in Dubai

Does this thing have any windows? Or are the tulip shapes clear windows?

According to the article: “An architect’s rendering of the hotel showed a cylinder-shaped building surrounded by four gold-sheathed petals resembling a flowering tulip” It’s still a bit unclear. I can’t imagine the petals would cover the windows, but maybe they are opaque and do!

i’m just glad they ain’t building this thing in chicago. i shouldn’t say that. it could work in chicago. The location would be important. This building works better in a town where they don’t have many tall buildings. It will be their central landmark. It will be the jewel in their crown. Placing this thing in chicago may look odd. Then again it may be nice. It would be a tulip growing in an urban jungle. I can’t make up my mind on this thing. I guess it’s success just for that reason. It forces people to think about principals of design.

The building exterior itself is just glass. Its also the only skyscraper on the Palm Shaped Island, visit http://www.Nakheel.ae for more info on the company. I live in Dubai, and at the moment, there are 300 Sky scrapers going up, of which in 5 years, the top 5 will be in Dubai.

tom, i talked to my friend who is from Dubai. she goes to school with me, but is returning to Dubai next month when she graduates. she likes it there, but told me that it is very HOT. she says it’s becoming very urban, if you like that sort of thing. she recommends that you visit Dubai before deciding to move there, to see if you like it. also, I just heard on the news that Michael Jackson has moved there! and he is frequenting women’s restrooms. that might have an impact on your decision to move there – sounds like it’s the new haven for disgraced celebrities?
