64 ounces of water is better

They would have more success with the 8-glasses-of-water-a-day thing if they said you should drink 64 ounces of water a day.

  • Most people don’t know how much a “glass” is.
  • Eight glasses just sounds ridiculously crazy, and most people just dismiss it as some uppity-ups going extreme with their reasoning.
  • People might fill up a 64-ounce jug, and totally chug it all at once.

EXACTLY!! Who knows how many ounces ones’ glasses hold!? People have different sizes of glasses. Some people think if they drink 8 glasses they are drinking 64 ounces, then they find out their favorite glass only holds 4 ounces. I drink Evian and the liquid measurement is in litres! How about suggesting we drink 2 litres of water a day, for people like me who think we should have adopted the metric system back when I was in the 3rd grade!

The eternal question for me, though, is does it matter if you’re drinking water, or, say, juice? Same amount of liquid, and you’re also getting whatever good stuff fruit contains. (Yes, I know you’re getting sugar, and too much sugar isn’t good.) To get the real story, I’ve asked doctors and nurses and have gotten conflicting responses. Argh. I hope juice counts, because I drink a lot of it, and very little water.

You answered your own question. Most doctors are now telling parents not to let their children drink too much fruit juice because of all the sugar. Even pure juices have lots of “natural” sugar. Read the labels for added sugar and color. Pure water is better for you. A glass of pure juice in the morning is good but you shouldn’t make juice [or coffee or tea or soda”> your primary liquid for healthy living.

Argh. The way I see it, at least I’m not drinking soda or tons of coffee.

Whoa! Call me crazy but now I want to try that steak/coke thing! It might put me off soda altogether (not that I drink that much). I’d say I drink 5 glasses of juice a day, max.

Milk isn’t all that good for you either. Yes, I’m here to dispell all the myths of food ๐Ÿ˜‰ We are the only species that drinks another species milk. You have to wonder how and why after several generations after we started drinking cows milk that so many people are lactose intolerant.

I’m not a big milk drinker. I drink the occasional chocolate milk, though, and I love cheese. Interesting about the drinking-other-species-milk thing!

Mmmmm…chocolate milk is the best…and I mean the FULL FAT Chocolate Milk ๐Ÿ˜‰ Not that Skim Milk Chocolate Milk. Why would you do that to Chocolate!? ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m a big cheese freak too. I like the harder cheeses which are more easily digested than the softer cheeses.

Agreed about the skim chocolate milk. Nearly bought some the other day. That was a close one.
