Three years ago on September 28, 2001 the first spudart.org blog post was made using the old Blogger system. The post entitled “Long Live Long Tables” is one of my all-time favorite posts. It touches on the social aspects of long rectangular tables.
Here’s a couple more long table trivia:
Cologne, Germany has a long-established annual event called “Longest Table in the World” (“Längste Deesch der Welt”) where the local restaurants, pubs, and shops set up tables side-by-side in front of their establishments offering both locals and visitors plenty to eat and drink.
The largest table cloth is 1,838 feet 7 inches long (and 5 feet 3 inches wide) in Brazil on Dec 7, 1999. (that’s 2.7 city blocks). I like how the people are all excited with arms in the air. Weeeeee! (Update: now the record is 7,402 feet as of 2015)
congrats on 3 years of blogging! isn’t it interesting to look back and see where you were in life back then, and how much stuff has changed for you since [not just the blog stuff”>? you were only 25 back then. wow, hard to imagine we were that young.
