What does a sidewalk taste like? Would it be more acidic or basic?
After internet research I found: Wet cement is the number 1 cause of occupational skin disease in the United States. Wet cement burns with a pH of 12.0 to 13.0
But, i want to know the pH of cement when it dries.

inspired by an IM conversation with tom
More info on cement burns: Exposure to dry product may cause drying of skin with consequent mild irritation. Dry cement contacting wet skin or exposure to moist or wet cement may cause more severe skin damage in the form of (caustic) chemical burns. Minimize skin contact, particularly contact with wet cement. Exposed persons may not feel discomfort until hours after the exposure has ended and significant injury has occurred. Some individuals may exhibit an allergic response upon exposure to this product, possibly due to trace amounts of chromium. The response may range from a mild rash to severe skin ulcers.
that’s terrible. yuck. cement is bad. it is not good for the environment. down with cement! down with cement! I want dirt roads. dirt roads! dirt roads!
I almost licked the sidewalk this morning when I got a little too friendly with a lightpost.
what exactly is the composition of cement? what’s in it? what’s it made of?
Solids don’t have a pH but if it was rehydrated it would still be basic.
