Lace border looks like rows of cocoons

This decorative silk border looks like cocoons. Rows and rows of cocoons. The pattern within each cocoon looks a bit like moth wings. Rather creepy if this was actually rows and rows of moths watching to hatch. Feels like almost the Matrix for moths.

A reverse Google image search results in group photos—school photos and team sports photos. The repeating pattern is common between this silk border and the group shots. What if team sports was some sort of Matrix phenomenon? Taking over our planet.
