Libraries are great places to explore books, but it would so fantastic if there was a Netflix for books. Oh wow, to have your own list of books that you are interested in and you get three books at once in the mail. Then when yer done with a book you mail it back and get another book on your list.
That’s what convinced me to get Netflix. It was the convenience of having all your wanted movies in one list. I have a blockbuster just half a block away from my apartment, and it’s even on my way to work and home. But having to search for your movies that you want to watch. ugh.
It’s like with the library. I have a list of books that would be nice to take out. But then half the time they aren’t on the shelf. BUT i do have to hand it to library. It is a great place to explore.

I suppose the only problem with Netflix for books would be the cost of shipping. To ship books first class is expensive, not like a DVD which can ship first class for pennies … well, dimes … That’s why most books from Book Clubs are shipped “Book Rate” which takes forever. What about Netflix for books on CD-ROM?
hmmm. yes. cost of shipping. hmmm. that’s a problem. hmmm. poor books. so heavy.
another annoyance at Blockbuster is when they’re out of the movie you want. i guess that’s not a problem with Netflix? how much $ is a Netflix membership?
I know this sounds wasteful but i don’t like to share books. I think I have a problem. See when I read, its late at night in my bed, which means i’m naked. Once in a while i’ll reach down and scratch my butt. I don’t scratch my butt a certain number of times, but it does happen. I then turn a page. I do not ever want to touch a page that someone else has touched after doing something gross. The weird thing is I can eat food off the floor and not be bothered.
my goodness.
i don’t lend books either, but that’s because people tend to forget to return them to me. i consider books to be sacred. in fact, i consider myself a book collector. my books aren’t valuable, only to me, but isn’t that what matters most?
In the words of the great humor columnist Mark Bazer on lending books to friends: [i”>”I was pleased, too. Jack would love the book, I knew. Moreover, he would forever associate it with me; it’d be just like I had co-written the book, without having to do any of the work or possess any of the writer’s talent.”[/i”>
Netflix for books exists!!! http://www.booksfree.com/books_home_n.html
that’s true, it does. i read about it in the RedEye – or no, some kind of organizational home magazine. it costs more tho – like $6-$30 a month, depending on the number of books you get.
but the real price is $12.99 a month. Nobody else will ever get the other plans. You get four books out at a time. the $29.99 plan allows you to have 12 books out at once. Who needs that? The site would greatly benefit if you could search their books by keyword. Right now you can onlly search by Auther, Title, and ISBN. They do have categories, but for instance there is no category for religion.
