There’s gotta be some better ideas for checks out there. You can make your own custom checks by uploading a photo to Uniquechecks.com (one box is $19.95). (check out the image below for some brainstorm thoughts on cool check ideas. Facebook users, you need to read the spudart post to see the image)
Here’s the list in text format: * Dogs playing po-ker (I already have these checks) * Transformers: an autobot insigna would ROCK * My Chicago photos: WHICH ONES? * Illusions (stuff that looks like a check, but is like, weird.) * Illusion idea 1: frosted glass with message * Illusion idea 2: wooden board with hole. Figure could come out of hole. Or maybe the hole is where money goes. * Where do you put money? Hole in ground, under mattress, in a book, safety vault, in a wallet. * My toy hand scans * A leaf * Lottery balls * Estonian coins * Super macro of coins. e.g. scan of just eyeball from coin * Cement (scan or photo of texture) * Floating paper boat with message * Scan of my hand. Phrase: “I’m handing you money” Although this phrase is not necessary, I like the idea of having just the texture of my hand, like filling up the whole check.
You still use checks?
I don’t write a lot of checks, so I think $19.95 for custom checks is a bit much, but I like this idea a lot. It would be cool if you could order, say 500 checks, with 10 or 12 designs … or more. The problem with designer checks is that one can get quite bored with the 3 or 4 designs typically included in a box. Having said all that, I like the texture ideas a lot. What about a whole series of different textures in one order? And I would LOVE to have your Cobra Daytona Coupe: 1 on my checks!
Carto, Yup, for my rent check and for the offering at church. Since the primary use of my checks is fo church, maybe I should consider some sort of religious message. But not the cheesemo kind. Something coooool. Tom, At least uniquechecks place allows for four different images. There are some places online that only let you use one image. And I’m glad you like the Hot Wheels: Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe: 1 image. I’ve been meaning to shoot more Hot Wheels. I have some other Cobra Daytona Coupe cars in other colors now. Although I’m sure they won’t be as nice as the red one.
Other than rent, I hardly ever use checks. In the last year I’ve written 15 of them. I think I got like 3 BOXES of plain-ol-boring checks for $7.95… enough to last me forever – but they do have the wrong address on them.
I think you should invest the effort into creating a custom t-shirt.. much more practical and cost-effective. 🙂 Optical illusion shirts. Do it?
Red is THE color for that type of car, no doubt … but if you have one in silver, that could rock hot!

i like the cement idea. it ROCKS. how about rare and unusual animals of the world? or a background of weeds. weeds get such bad press. it’d be fun to put them on checks.
or backgrounds of lesser known Renaissance paintings. or lesser known 20th century artists. or hazardous waste logo. har har. or a photo of my laundry basket full of dirty clothes with a hazardous waste logo on it. har har har. (three hars there)
