I work in a popcorn zone at work. It’s called the south side of the 14th floor Tribune Tower.
Oh burnt popcorn how thee smell
Here comes the cloud, ring the bell, ring the bell!
It’s burnt popcorn, I surely can tell
The scent is overwhelming, I’m not feeling well
This sort of behavior needs to be dispel
How I’d love to bid office popcorn farewell
Does anyone else work at a place where their coworkers love burnt popcorn?
It’s 10:30am and someone just burned some popcorn already in the morning. Lovely.
This reminds me of the column by Mark Bazer, “The Lean Cuisine Parade”: http://www.markbazer.com/humor/leancuisine.php
Yes, as a matter of fact, someone does always burn popcorn on the south side of my floor. Hm. What a coincidence.
If I ruled the world, I would ban microwaves from the work place (keep them in the staff lounge).
Cart — I think that’s part of the problem with me and Spud’s office area. There is no designated “lounge.” The microwave is just kind of in the middle of this hallway. Even the “kitchen” is not enclosed. Spud — Is it just the burnt popcorn smell that bothers you or do you also dislike the crunching noises while they eat it?
Maybe we should all pitch in for a new microwave that has a designated popcorn setting. My super-fragglistic microwave at home SENSES when the popcorn is done. Don’t ask me how it knows, but it KNOWS… I’ve never had burnt popcorn from my home microwave.
Nice use of “super-fragglistic”… I don’t work in an office…however I have on occasion burnt popcorn at home…in which case I never hear the end of it.
I saw your tweet about it the other day and thought of you when my coworker who makes popcorn every single day at 3pm, managed to burn it (same popcorn, same micro, same settings, whaaaa?) This was the same day the howling wind found a crevice in my boss’s window, which shrieked a single note, all day long. Awesome! I should just send the link to this post to my coworker. Ring the bell!
lemme get this straight. There are people in your office that purposely burn their popcorn because they like it that way?
Actually, I don’t think they BURN the popcorn. I’m betting it’s just that it smells like it’s burnt. I call it burnt popcorn, because that sounds more dramatic.
