Using middle names in emails

For an extra touch of fun, use people’s middle names in emails. Whenever I find someone’s middle name, I like to put it in my address book. Then whenever I email that person, the “to” field shows their full name.

It gives a touch of formality to a medium that is quite informal.

I think it’s kinda a fun that you use “Tom” instead of “Thomas” (my formal first name) and my formal middle name (instead of “Will” or “Willy”)

I rarely write out my middle name, but I use the initial in my formal signature.

Dude, me too! I love using middle names when I learn them. 🙂 I’ve been doing this since high school.

My first name and my middle names, Erik Justin, have no abbreviated nicknames unlike Thomas William or Tommy Billy.
