I have a new blog dedicated to exploring the intersection of being an artist and a Christian. I plan on making one blog post per week at ChristianNotebook.com.
This week I explore that we are God’s artwork made to do good things. Read more at christiannotebook.com/content/we-are-god’s-artwork.
You should look into the writings of artist, Makoto Fujimura. He is a Nihonga Abstract Expressionist artist. I’ll let you borrow his recent book, “Refractions”. I spent countless hours working on a Bible he illuminated, “The Four Holy Gospels”. He visited our office last Friday to speak at chapel. It was a really good talk. http://www.crossway.org/bibles/the-four-holy-gospels-1370-fab/ He also founded International Arts Movement. Here’s their mission, “IAM gathers artists and creative catalysts to wrestle with the deep questions of art, faith, and humanity in order to inspire the creative community to engage the culture that is and create the world that “ought to be.” http://www.internationalartsmovement.org/ Actually, I think I’ll write a blog post with this content.
Good recommendations, moose. Last night I bought “It Was Good: Making Art to the Glory of God” http://amzn.to/ff59d7 I’m looking forward to it.
