The morning was crazy as Lisa was running around trying to get stuff done for Rimas’s ads. She left in the morning to do errands: Feed fish at parent’s house (they are on vacation), go to work to print black and white lasers, pick up photo paper, go to the bank. I opted to stay at her place, watch cartoons, and play on my new powerbook.
We left in a rush to get down to Champaign around the time she told Rimas and her brother.
We picked up Lisa’s brother, who is a chemical engineering student at U of I. Went to see Katy Rush’s show (Katy was classmates with Lisa for two years at IWU).
The work was very very nicely executed. However, I could careless for the subject mattter. It was these very erotic, fantasized dolls made from moldsof barbie doll figures and other doll figures. Ugh. I can’t stand anything made from dolls. The hands and legs were barbie dolls, some had dresses, the heads were from other dolls. Lots of bondage, and tiny alligators crawling all over.
But they were crafted very very well, incredible detail. The all white of the figures provided an elegant grouding for these eroticly S&M figures.
The show had 16 of her pieces. Five had sold since the opening one week ago. Costs were from $150-$300. Actually quite a deal for these works. But we didn’t buy any. Yeah, I want some chained woman with alligators crawling all over her body in my home. Yeah, right.
Then we went over to Rimas’s. He and his wife live in a huge house out in the countryland of Champaign/Urbana. His 19-month-old son, Tadas was a pure joy.
We hung out, talked, ate shrimp, olives, and bread for a few hours.
For hosting previews of his ads on my website, he gave me one of his ceramic tiles that he was selling at the gallery we went to. I got to choose from around 10 different tiles. And funny enough, I chose the most expensive one (coming in at $95). But I like it alot. There were many that liked.
Went to eat at a popular and packed mexican restaurant. Yummy. We drove home that night and crashed once we got home.
