As I like to say in winter, “When snow is on the ground, always carry carrots in your pocket.” (so you are ready to build a snowman at any moment).
Snow it did this morning. Just enough. My quiet town’s popular spots suddenly had tiny snowmen.
One of our favorite coffee shops, Blackberry Market.

The wind was blowing hard. This little guy stayed upright just long enough for the photo, then decided he’d had enough and fell over.

A little like Humpty Dumpty having a great fall. Except this time, the king’s horses and all the king’s men could put him back together again.

There was no point trying to make him stand again, so I just gathered the snowballs together and let him be one piece. Now he looks like he’s sleeping on the bench.
Good night, Frosty. Good night.
Once you build one tiny snowman, you can’t help but build another.

This one is nearby Glen Ellyn’s Town Hall (as seen in the background)
I also took a panoramic shot to show the light coating of snow on the sidewalk.

When there isn’t much snow, tree planters look promising. The snow gathers there. Unfortunately, so does leaves and mulch. That’s how you end up with a dirty snowman. Grassy areas are better, even though there’s less snow there; it’s just snow. No regrets.
On the way home, I made a #tinysnowman on the Glen Ellyn Public Library’s sign.

This one was especially fun because a long line of cars was stuck at the intersection, waiting for a freight train to pass.

All these cars, standing still, waiting. And then there’s a guy on the corner making what… a snowman‽ It must have been pretty entertaining for them.
You can see the freight train in this 32-second video collage of all three snowmen in their context.
