An obvious secret to hot chocolate

Whenever I would have hot chocolate at work in my big mug, it always tasted bad. Was it the black mug sucking out the heat? Not really. Was it the Swiss Miss brand? Not really. Was it because I was filling the big mug up to the top with water. YOU BETCHA.

It may seem obvious, but too much water for hot chocolate WATERS IT DOWN. Yeah. Duh. I always thought this mug was a pretty normal size. Sure it’s a little bigger, but it’s not THAT big. This time around I put in half the amount of water. Wow! It tastes SO much better.

Obvious? Yes. But tasty? OOH YEAH!

Just as obvious – instead of using half the water, use twice the hot chocolate mix! ๐Ÿ™‚ Or just set it next to the elusive Transformers Pez Dispenser and it will be infused with magical goodness.

Next time instead of using water, try whole milk. Talk about yummy goodness

Or heavy whipping cream!

I don’t think the Swiss Miss hot chocolate needs milk or cream. As far as powdered hot chocolate mixes go, I think it is the best. Part of that may be because Swiss Miss contains powdered milk. Brands that don’t contain powdered milk often recommend they be prepared with milk (or cream for you dairy fans). I miss the free Swiss Miss that Tribune supplies. I also miss the free microwave popcorn and 25 cent soda that Getty supplies.
