If anyone is looking for a custom-printed pen with your logo and/or phrase, here’s the place: Office Depot. For real.
A couple of days ago someone in the Museum of Contemporary Art asked me for a pen. I let him borrow one thinking it would have been really cool if I had a Spudart pen. The next day I looked at a bunch of places for logo pens, but I don’t want to spend a lot of money and I don’t want like 500 pens running around.
Most places make you pay an extra $40 for “imprint charges”. Whoa doggy, that’s about how much I would pay TOTAL for the pens. And then most places have a minimum of 250, 500, or 1000 pens to start with. Slow down there tiger!
But good ol’ Office Depot not only has a small minimum of 150 pens but there’s no setup charge or screen charge! It’s only cost me $55.50 to get ’em made!
Office Depot (150 minimum) $0.37 each. $55.50 total
In case you’re wondering, here are some of the other sites I looked at. The first number is the minimum quantity, the second is the price per pen. I’m pretty sure all these places charge extra for screens. But they don’t list it on their site.
- Stop-n-GoM* (250 minimum) $0.21 each: $30 setup
- Pacific Line (150 minimum) $0.38 each. $50 screen setup
- e-promo (250 minimum) $0.25 each: $40 screen seetup
- All-In-One Aero Stick (300 minimum) $0.38 each
- All-In-One Aero Stick clear (300 minimum) $0.38 each
- Graphco Line (200 minimum) $0.36 each
- Graphco Line (200 minimum) $0.36 each
- Jornik Stick Pen (250 minimum) $0.27 each
- Journik Twister (250 minimum) $0.27 each
- The Grafix Guy (250 minimum) $0.33 each. $18 setup. $18 art
- Bay Promo (250 minimum) $0.33 each
Spudart pens! Cool! How about Spudart pencils!
technically, you’re not supposed to use pens in the MCA. Pencils are allowed because pencils can’t explode on the artwork like pens can. It’s true. I was a security guard at the MCA during the summer of 96.
The deal at Jornik Stick Pen and Journik Twister ain’t bad either. You pay an extra 17.50 to almost double the amount you would get at Office Depot.
Tom, I thought about pencils, but they can be a pain to carry around. The graphite gets on everything. They need to make pencil caps. Moose, technically, we were not in the galleries of the MCA. We were in the auditorium. One would think the rules of the pen do not extend to the auditorium. Does it, Mr. Security Guard Man? Moose, I betcha the Jornik pens would charge a screen charge. booo.
Oh wow, the google ad on this page actually linked to a site selling custom pens! It was http://www.myshopangel.com/promotional_pens_stick.htm And their deal is the best one yet!!! They have minimum quantity of 250 for a mere $0.25 each. With no logo setup or screen charge! Wow, I”m gonna order from them. Thank you google ads!
moose, should i believe your MCA tales of lore? i seem to recollect that you were fired from that job…
You were a security guard in ’96!? Are you kidding? You mean I probably saw you at the MCA before I saw you try to trick me at TMS!?
I will gladly purchase a spudart pen! Set up a store!
Oh no, I wouldn’t sell the pens. I would just give them away.
Oh i need to add this to my to do list. Sometimes this crosses my mind. The only thing is that I don’t want to hand out some crap pens. At work, we ordered some pens, and they ended up leaking on everyone. Oh man, can you imagine that? They are the joke of the office now. Seriously. They leak all over, and they have our logo on them.
