There are only four google results for “hopscotch world championship“–probably because hopscotch is really quite simple. How about making the sport MORE EXTREME‽ Place the squares farther apart, so you really have to make a good leap to land in the square–and remember, no part of your foot can touch the line. The ideal hopscotch athelet would be able to jump far and have really tiny feet. Or wait, maybe pretty big feet to stick the landing.
Maybe include some hurdles.
Oh wait. Nine-year-old Erica has made one of the world’s finest hopscotch courts ever. Check it out on Bernie DeKoven’s blog post, “Hopscotch 2.0.” Her court includes a “clap square” where you are required to clap upon landing in it. Oh yes, I like this idea of requiring an activity when landing in a square.
How about a square where you have to do a 360 spin jump. OH YEAH!
How would you make hopscotch court more extreme? (without using crocodiles or ninjas)

Spiral hopscotch

I haven’t been to a playground in quite some time — are there still hopscotch games painted on playground blacktop? Growing up, that was a staple at the grammar schools in my town, but I noticed that as the years went by, the hopscotch paint would deteriorate so you could barely see it. I wonder if anyone ever re-painted it so more kids could play hopscotch, or is the game becoming obsolete? Funny how WAAY back in the day when we were kids, we’d be perfectly content playing a game that required nothing more than a few painted squares on the ground. 🙂
Try doing the spiral hopscotch with a half bottle of scotch in your system. That would be so funny..
That is an actual competition unfortunately XD
Merci, I might just try that. 😉
hopscotch on water
ooh that hopscotch stairs is fab, but my legs are too short to jump from one box to the next
Moose, you actually have an interesting idea there. I’m sure you were being silly/sarcastic with your idea, but it would make an intersting course if you put floating squares on water. Just imagine trying to hop from floating squre to floating square. This has Wipeout (the tv show) written all over it!
