Mr. T as bodyguard

In the year 2000, I bought a homemade Cabbage Patch Mr. T doll from a new-ish site called eBay. Now, he sits as the bodyguard to the bedroom of my 4-year-old and 7-year-old daughters.

One of these days, I’m going to buy him a new pair of shoes. I lost one of his shoes in 2000 while taking photos of him around the city in the snow. In 2000, my Christmas card was all photos of Mr. T around Chicago. All taken with a film camera, because I didn’t own a digital camera until 2001.

It would be fun to dress him up with more necklaces. Although, Mr. T in real life has ditched all his bling. Or as the kids call it today, drip.

Wikipedia says:

He stopped wearing virtually all his gold, one of his identifying marks, after helping with the clean-up after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He said, “As a Christian, when I saw other people lose their lives and lose their land and property … I felt that it would be a sin before God for me to continue wearing my gold.”

Last year I wrote about the Easter sermon he gave.
